-Kat-
I danced around my room in my underwear with Marilyn. Lana Del Rey was on full blast and so was our dance moves. Lucy was out with Dylan for the night so Mari and I decided to have a twin night. Popcorn and pizza were scattered around my room and clothes were thrown on the ground. Life has gotten better since moving here. Mom's even happier, I've never seen her so happy since before dad died. I miss dad, more than anything. His death broke everyone apart. Especially Mari, who still blamed herself for it. Each day get's a little brighter though. Mari smiles and laughs more. Mom isn't very mopey and has more motivation. As for me, I'm stressed over these college applications. I've applied to NYU, LSU, and ICU. I haven't gotten any acceptance letters yet. Which I won't for a while either. Mari is going to New York after graduation and Lucy decided to apply early to NYU also. She still hasn't been accepted either. If we all go to New York it would be so cool. We could all spend New Years in Time Square and see how beautiful Christmas looks in New York. Mari laid on the floor her head buried in her arms and feet wiggling in the air. She sang along to Yamaha while it played in Warm Bodies her second favorite movie. Sandlot was on next so we were both pretty happy, our favorite movie ever. I sat down next to her pretzel style and her eyes stayed glued to the TV. Mom came into the room a little after 11pm from work and kissed the top of our heads and whispered a goodnight to us. We watched movie after movie until Mari turned off the TV and turned to me. "Kat, how are you?" She asked randomly. I looked down at the floor and back up at her. "I'm pretty good. How are you?" I asked back. "I'm okay. I was just curious." She said. I laughed slightly and she smiled. "I'm glad you're talking to me again." Her voice cracked a little when she said that. Suddenly I realized why. She was afraid she would lose me, that I'd go back to ignoring her again. "Mari, you're my sister. I love you more than you think." I said and I noticed her as she put her head down on the floor. I couldn't tell what she was doing. I laid my head back and stared at the ceiling, I let out a loud sigh. I then heard a little whimper. Mari was crying lightly. She lifted her head up and got up to leave the room. "Mari, are you okay?" I asked sounding concerned. She turned her head, her face was red and her eyes were swollen. She had tears stained on her cheeks. She shook her head slowly before walking out and slamming the door behind her. I felt numb and hesitated to move. Eventually I got the strength and walked out of my room and down the hall. I crept over to Mari's room and cracked the door open. She wasn't in there, so I went back to my room. As I walked past the bathroom I heard light sobs. I knocked lightly on the door. "One minute." I heard Mari faintly whisper. The door began to jiggle then opened and there stood Mari crying. She wobbled out of the bathroom and I grabbed her arm. She felt into mine and hugged me tightly. "What happened beauty?" "I'm broken." She cried into my shoulder. I thought of saying I know. I did though, I knew she was getting better but she still remained broken. Like a porcelain plate. She could be glued back together but still had her faint cracks. I held my sister in my arms as she cried. I decided that what I did before by leaving her was wrong. Now I was determined to help and stay with her. For my only sister. My beauty Marilyn.
