Faith Elizabeth
Shawn was unlike any man I had ever met in my life.
He understood.
He was kind and supportive.
He was everything I wanted in my life.
Which is why it was so hard when he left.He stayed for another day before his celebrity duties called, leaving me on my own most days.
One day in particular was odd.
Extremely odd.
And odd came in the form of Charles."How the hell do you know where I live?!" I yelled as he turned up outside my door.
"Can we talk?" He asked, seemingly out of breath.
"No! You've caused me enough pain and trouble as it is." I said and he nodded.
"No I know. I know. It wasn't right of me and I promise it will all be over soon." He said and a panic shot up my spine.
"What will be over?" Mum said putting her hands on my shoulders.
"Ms Elizabeth please may I come in?" Charles asked.
"You're the man from the plane? Have you been following us?" She asked and her grip tightened.
"Please?" He asked and mum sighed, letting Charles in.He explained to mum that he had been following us and how he knew my father.
"Your father is a not a good man. Look the whole reason I'm following you is to keep you both safe" he sighed.
"I thought you said he works for you" Mum said.
"He does. But after keeping a surveillance on him he's been going behind our backs. Stealing, attacking, drugs. Someone over heard him say how you and your mother would get it eventually. Not that we know what 'it' means. And since Faith, you now have a high profile behind with Shawn it's best to keep you safe" he explained and I felt weak.My life used to be so easy. So straightforward.
I had no worries, everything was so normal. I was fine with having a normal life. I didn't think my life was boring.
Then in walked Shawn.
I wonder what would be different if I had never auditioned for the music video.
I wouldn't have met Shawn which, now, is too unbearable to think of, and my father probably wouldn't be after me and my mother."What does he want? I always knew I should never have married him. I always knew there was something behind the smile" Mum sighed and Charles gave her an apologetic look.
"We think he wants money."
"I don't have any!" We both said at the same time.
"He's most likely seen you in the music video and assumed you have money. Money that he wants." Charles explained.
"What do we do?" Mum asked.
"We have trackers on him. And we actually have surveillance on you both. If he ever comes here and we don't spot it, use these." He said handing us two watches. "The button sends a signal to our trackers. Press it and we'll be here" he said.
"This is some James Bond type shit" I said and he nodded with a smile.
"Only like a phone call from an Apple Watch" he said. "One more thing, one of our men is watching Shawn. He'll be receiving the same talk right about now. I'd expect a phone call" Charles said.
"Why does Shawn need watching?" I gasped.
"It's just precautionary. Your father might use Shawn to get to you. Like a pawn" he said and rose to his feet.We showed him out the door and agreed to take all the safety measures Charles had gone through with us.
I felt overwhelmed.
Everything crazy happened to me within the space of a few months.
No human being could get their minds wrapped around that easily.
"Mum" I said and she nodded "we'll be ok"
"I know darling. It's just scary. Especially because you've been through so much already" she sighed and kissed my forehead before heading towards the stairs and disappearing to her room. The phone rang and scared me out of my skin.
I had already guessed who it was.
And I wasn't surprised by his tone either.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
