Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Regardless of your choice, second or first, it does not actually matter. Why? Because at the end of the day you will still be talking about the water in the glass, just like others do. Everything equals to everything regardless of the circumstances.
Therefore, being pessimistic is not that bad. Yes, it is about expecting the worst. And most people will make it typical by assuming there is a fine link between 'pessimism' and 'negativity'. However, they tend to neglect one main factor of why being pessimistic can be essential in our living; and that is, the beauty of pessimism.
Being pessimistic itself in fact is a common defense mechanism we set on ourselves. Have you heard the phrase saying, "Don't expect too much, it will just hurt when you do." Listen, there are no outcomes that will come out as the ones we expect them to be. They will always be less than what we have been dreaming of, always. And once you make a careless mistake of always expecting a bright smooth future, again, you will fall in the hands of the unexpected, and most likely your heart will shatter.
Therefore, all you need to do is just to brace yourself with a rigid shield. There are many shields out there, and one of them is again, pessimism. No, I don't tell you to be pessimistic. But I am saying that it is all fine if you do. Because being pessimistic does not mean you are negative. It instead indicates that no matter what the future is going to be, bright or dark, soft or rough, quiet or loud, all you know is that you are already prepared to accept the worst; you are protecting yourself from the most dangerous expected harm ever.
Pessimism is just a simple definition of a defense mechanism that most of us use everyday, and that is fine, because we all need a shield anyway
-she has her own shield. they say she depends too much on the shield that she cannot even stand up by herself. but she just remains quiet knowing that her shield will never break and that is enough-
