Holly's POV
I'm relaxing in the square on the fountain, enjoying the sun. It feels nice to relax. Suddenly a shadow appears blocking out the sun. "Move please, you're blocking my sun" I say not opening my eyes.
"I heard you were in town" a familiar voice says and I open my eyes.
"John Gilbert, long time no see" I say smiling. "What brings you to town?" I ask him curious.
"The vampire problem" he states.
"Oh the Salvatores are on their best behaviour and there are no other vampires in town" I tell him as I sit up.
"Yes but the Salvatores pose a threat to Elena" he tells me.
"True, but what are you going to do about it?" I ask him.
"Use Jonathan Gilbert's device, I just need to find it" he states.
"Can't help you there" I tell him.
"I have a council meeting, stay out of trouble Holly" he tells me.
"Sure thing John, see you at the party" I tell him and relax. Once he left I call Isobel. "Let me guess, you sent John" I say when she answers.
"I want the Salvatores away from Elena, it's only to keep her safe" she tells me.
"I understand, but do you really think I'd let anyone harm her?" I ask.
"No, of course not" she says. "But this way she's less likely to die" she states.
"Fine, I won't stop John. But you know with him in town Elena might figure out who he really is" I warn her.
"It's a risk we're willing to take, to protect her" she tells me.
"Very well, hope to see you and Katherine soon" I tell her. We say our goodbyes and hang up. I go back to sun bathing until another shadow blocks the sun. "What do you people have against a tan?" I ask opening my eyes to see Tyler.
"We're having party at the Founders' hall, I wondered if you'd be my date" he tells me.
"Mmm I don't know, would your father approve?" I ask smiling as I stand up.
"Who cares? And Matt's going to with Caroline" he tells me.
"Well then, how can I say no" I tell him. "I'll meet you there" I assure him and go to change. I put on my yellow party dress and brown heels. I then braid my hair and do my make-up. I grab my purse and put on a necklace. I then go to the founders hall.
I find Tyler drinking with Matt and take the whiskey bottle. "Share boys" I tell them and take a swig before handing it to Tyler. "I'm going outside" I tell them and leave. Shortly after I arrive a dead John lands in front of me and I shake my head. I pull him to the side and lean him against the wall. Soon he wakes up. "Did you piss Damon off?" I ask.
"I confronted him about opening the tomb" he mumbles and I roll my eyes. "Let's return to the party" he says holding an arm out. I take it to be polite and we return to the party. I smirk at Damon when he looks at John shocked and I remove my arm from John. Making sure Damon sees his ring and John goes to the stage.
"Thank you all, thank you very much, thank you. Thank you all for joining us tonight in just a few moments we will officially begin the countdown to our upcoming Founders' Day celebration and it's a very special one this year. The one hundred and fiftieth birthday of our town" Mayor Lockwood explains. "And I would like to welcome back one of our town favorite's sons to do the honors of ringing our official charter bell. John Gilbert, would you please join me up here?" he calls and John goes onto the stage as the crowd applause.
"One hundred and fifty years of community, prosperity, family. We take care of each other, we look after each other, protect each other" John says smiling and looks at Damon. "It's good to be home" he finishes. I decide to call it a night and leave.
As I walk home Isobel calls me. "Hello Holly, I thought I'd inform you Katherine and I will be arriving in time for the pageant. I'll arrive first and Katherine shortly after. I know is already in town, I wish for you to help him find the Gilbert device" she explains.
"A device that is dangerous to vampires, why would I help?" I ask her.
"Because the tomb vampires are still in town and are after the founding families. That includes Elena" she tells me.
"Fine, but only to protect Elena. Look me up when you arrive" I tell her and hang up. Looks like I'm teaming up with John, great. But anything to protect Elena. She reminds me so much of my mother, more so then Katherine. I miss my mother terribly. Luckily I had Elijah to raise me until I was turned after I had my daughter. Who I named Tatia in honour of my mother. She was a beauty like all Petrovas and even though I was not in her life long. I always kept tabs on her and assured she found her true love. She had a beautiful family and out bloodline continued to Elena today. My last living human relative.
