Holly's POV
For once I'm not relaxing by the fountain and am at the grill. When Alaric approaches me. "Can I help you?" I ask him.
"Yes, I need Damon's number" he tells me.
"Why? When you know where he leaves" I remind him.
"It's important, please" he says with pleading eyes.
"Fine" I say taking his phone and put Damon's number in it. "You can go now" I tell him handing it back. He thanks me and leaves. I then notice John enter the grill and go join him. "What brings you here today?" I ask him.
"I thought you'd be at the fountain" he states.
"Not today" I say shaking my head.
"Anyway I'm here to talk to Pearl" he states. Just then Pearl enters the grill. I wave her over and she sits across from John beside me.
"Hello Mr Gilbert, Holly" she says.
"Hi Pearl" I say smiling.
"Pearl. What a pleasure. I must admit, I'm surprised that you came" John says.
"Jenna tells me that you wanted to discuss the sale of the building in person" Pearl states.
"Still, revealing yourself to me like this, it took quite a risk" John states.
"She's not stupid John" I tell him.
"You knew who I was when you requested the meeting. So, Damon tells me that you and Holly are looking for the device I took from Johnathan. I'm sure you realize I have no intention of giving it to either of you" Pearl states.
"That's why I wanted to meet you. I'm planning on changing your mind" John says smiling.
"I won't force you Pearl" I assure her. Though I could as I'm a lot stronger then her.
"Really? How so?" Pearl asks John.
"With my Gilbert charm. I know that you have a weakness for it. May I buy you a drink?" he asks her sweetly. I roll my eyes and signal a waiter. We get our drinks he then leaves to call someone.
"Why are you helping John?" Pearl asks me.
"Isobel requested I do, I only help as long as it's in Elena's best interest. Only if Elena tells me otherwise, will I stop helping John" I state.
"I understand your connection with her" she says. "But I won't be giving John the device" she states.
"Like I said, I won't force you" I tell her. Just then John returns hanging up the phone. He apologies for leaving. "No apologies necessary" I tell him.
"So, tell me, Mr. Gilbert, why should I let you have the device?" Pearl asks him.
"Because I can help you. I'm connected around here. The Town Council's eating out of my hand. They do whatever I say. And I know that you just want to live your life. Complete with a white picket fence, and I can help you do that" John explains.
"But the device doesn't work. Why would you even want it?" Pearl asks. If only she knew it was only half the device.
"It's a family heirloom. Call me sentimental" John states. I hold in my amusement.
"Johnathan was ahead of his time" I say and Pearl nods her head in agreement.
"I read his journals. They're very extensive. He actually wrote about you. You were his one regret. He loved you, and he hated himself for what he did to you" John tells her.
"You're lying" Pearl states.
"No. On his last days, he wrote how sorry he was. You were the only woman he ever loved" he tells her. "Good God. You vampires...you're so emotional. Johnathan Gilbert hated you. His only regret was that he didn't drive a stake through your heart himself" he states.
"I gave it to Damon" Pearl tells him
"What?" John asks.
"I gave your device to Damon. Why don't you ask him for it yourself? I'm sure he'd be delighted to give it to you. And then, Mr. Gilbert, may you rot in hell" Pearl states before leaving.
"Burn, well thanks for the drink John" I say before leaving him. I go to the woods and I receive a call from Damon. "Hello Damon" I say.
"Stefan's back on the rails and on his animal diet thanks to Elena" he tells me.
"That's good" I say. Suddenly I get another call. "I gotta go, let me know if he goes off the rails again" I tell him and hang up. Then accept the call from Anna and hear her sobbing. "Anna sweety, what's wrong?" I ask her concerned.
"Mama's dead and so is Harper" she cries.
"I'll be right there" I tell her and hang up. I then vamp run to her place. I find her crying over her mother's body. "Oh dear, come here" I say holding her close. "It'll be ok, I understand how much it hurts to lose a mother. I lost mine at a young age, but I made it through life and so can you" I assure her.
"I feel so alone" she whimpers.
"You aren't alone, you have me and Jeremy" I assure her. Just then I receive a call and see it's Isobel. "I have to take this, but you can stay at my place tonight" I tell her. She goes to get her things as I accept the call. "Hello Isobel" I say smiling.
"I'm in town and organizing a meeting with Elena" she tells me. I smile. "I'll send you my new address and I hope to see you tomorrow" she states.
"Of course, remember no harm comes to her" I remind her. "I hope you're not alone" I say.
"Oh I've already have friends" she assures me and I smirk.
"I look forward to meeting them" I tell her. "See you tomorrow Isobel" I say and hang up. Anna appears and we bury her mother along with Harper. Before going to my place.
