Holly's POV
I get up and got ready for the day before going to Caroline's house. Her mother invited me in before leaving. Katherine had left during the night to go contact her witch. She said she'd be back tonight. Her witch will the arrive in a few days, in time for the masquerade ball. Anyway Liz told me Caroline is in her room and I go there.
"What are you doing here?" she asks me.
"Stefan asked me to come and your mother invited me in" I tell her. "Stefan should be here soon with Bonnie, she'll be making you a daylight ring" I add.
"So I'll get to walk in the sun again?" she asks me.
"Sure will" I tell her. "Enjoying being a vampire so far?" I ask her.
"Not really, but it's not like I have much say in the matter" she tells me.
"When Stefan's finished training with you, I'll take you out for some real fun" I tell her smirking. Just then Stefan arrives with Bonnie, who is holding Emily's grimoire. They come into the bedroom where Stefan sits on the chair by the shut curtains. Bonnie gives Caroline a Lapis Lazuli ring.
"So, I don't get to choose the ring I have to wear the rest of my life?" she asks while examining it.
"Hey, if you don't want it..." Bonnie starts to say.
"No no, she wants it" Stefan assures her.
"Now what?" Caroline asks us.
"Now is the part where I explain the rules" Bonnie states.
"There are no rules" I tell her, but she ignores me.
"The witch who spells the ring has the power to de-spell it so if you ever do anything to hurt anyone" she tells Caroline.
"I'm not gonna hurt anyone" Caroline assures her.
"You are a vampire that mean the urge to kill is a part of who you are. The minute you let it take over, I will stop you" Bonnie promises.
"Bonnie, you're supposed to be my friend" Caroline reminds her.
"I can't ignore what happened, okay? If you want to be friends, you have to prove that the Caroline I remember isn't gone. Now put the ring on the bed" Bonnie instructs. Caroline does so and Bonnie lets a little sunlight shine on the ring. She then does the spell before handing the ring to Caroline.
"So that's it? I mean nothing witchy happened. You know, no flickering lights, no gust of wind. Have you even done this before?" Caroline asks.
"Caroline" Stefan warns.
"What? I just want to make sure that it worked" she states. Bonnie suddenly opens the curtains letting the sun shine on Caroline.
"It worked" she says proudly.
"What if it hadn't Bonnie?!" Caroline exclaims and I roll my eyes.
"She's all yours" Bonnie tells Stefan and I before leaving.
"Ok time to teach you to hunt" Stefan declares. So we all go to the woods.
"She needs people blood Stefan" I tell him.
"We're gonna try it this way first" he tells me.
"Whatever" I say leaning against a tree. Stefan tells Caroline they're going to catch a rabbit.
"So what I do when I catch the rabbit?" she asks him.
"Feed on it" he answers.
"Isn't killing cute defenseless animals the first step in becoming a serial killer?" she asks.
"You kind of skipped serial killer and went straight to vampire. I've lost track of how many I've killed" I tell her shrugging.
"Caroline, if you're not serious about all of this I think you should tell me" Stefan tells her.
"No I am. Look, I swear that I am okay? But it's just...I haven't been in the sun for days and everyone is at the swimming hole having fun and Matt is there! And he finally told me that he loved me but I have been blowing him off and now you want me to eat bunnies and I'm kind of freaking out okay" she explains. Making Stefan and I laugh. "Now you both are laughing at me" she says pouting.
"No, no, I'm not laughing. None of this is funny, trust me. It's just that" Stefan says calming down.
"What?" she asks us.
"When someone becomes a vampire, all of their natural behaviors get sort of amplified" I tell her.
"What do you mean?" she asks confused.
"She means... as a human I cared deeply for people, how they felt. If they were hurting I felt their pain and I felt guilty if I was the one who caused it and as a vampire all of that got...magnified" Stefan explains.
"So you're saying that now I'm basically an insecure, neurotic control freak...on crack?" Caroline asks and I chuckle.
"Well, I wasn't gonna say it like that but...hey, listen, let's hunt okay? And then after that we'll go to the swimming hole" Stefan suggests.
"Really?" Caroline asks him excited.
"Yeah. Matt is the closest connection that you have to your humanity and I think that being around him is a good thing" Stefan tells her.
"Well I have no interest in the swimming hole party, so I'll leave after the hunt" I tell them. So we hunt and I then leave them. Heading for the grill, needing to get rid of the taste of animal blood. Caroline convinced me to have a rabbit and honestly I hate fast food.
I order a rum and start to drink. Until I decide I should go somewhere more secure as it's a full moon. So I go Gilbert's lake house, which I had been invited in too by John years ago. Thanks to Katherine. I lock all the doors and make sure all the windows are shut. Before deciding to watch Grey's Anatomy. It's safer for me to stay up on a full to be alert, even though Mason usually locks himself up.
