August 23rd - 19 Weeks 6 Days
The trip to Maui was magical, as cliche as that sounds. It was the first official vacation Rebecca and Colby had taken together, even though they'd lived together for now 3 almost 4 weeks they were learning a lot about one another spending almost 3 days now in the hotel room together.
Rebecca was learning that Colby refused to do anything without eating first thing when he woke up in the morning, whereas Rebecca was different.. she had to let her body wake up first before she could even think about food.
It was little things like that they were learning and honestly they both thought they knew everything about the other but they loved learning new things everyday.
Today was the day they would be hiking to the water on a trail that Colby kept dropping hints about wanting to hike the last few days.
Rebecca walked out of the bathroom after changing and looked at herself in the full length mirror.
"Are you seeing this?" she asked as she looked back at Colby who was putting his shoes on his feet as he sat on the edge of the bed and he looked up at her "Seriously" she said and she ran her hand over her abdomen
"Yeah" he nodded with a small smile "I can see it" he nodded
"I actually look pregnant now, not just fat" she said and he shook his head
"You never looked fat" he said "You look more beautiful now than you ever have"
"Okay Lopez" she nodded with a roll of her eyes "Whatever you say"
"I'm serious" he stood up and walked over to her placing a kiss on her head as he grabbed his phone from the desk
"Are you sure you wanna take me out in public like this?" she asked
"Hey.." he grabbed her hand "What is with you today?" he asked and she shook her head "You're never this down on yourself"
"It's just strange" she said with a shrug "I was told as a kid that I was fat and I was teased for that which is why I worked so hard for the body I had, yes it was to make sure I was healthy but it was also to prove it to those people that I'm fit and skinny" she admitted "I've worked so hard on it and now" she motioned down with her hand and he pulled her into his chest
"This isn't going to last forever" he shook his head "You're gonna snap back quickly, you have heard the doctor at the past few appointments, She says since you had an athletic body before the pregnancy, your body is used to that figure.. You work out still, You are going to come back to yourself sooner than most" he explained and she nodded against his chest
"I know" she sighed "I'm just being extra emotional today I guess" she said with a shake of her head
"It's understandable" he nodded and kissed her head "Now, can we please go on this hike?" he asked
"Why are you so impatient?" she asked
"Because I want to get to the water before it's dark" he said with a laugh and she eyed him carefully and he just smiled down at her
"What are you up to Lopez?" she asked and he shook his head
"Nothing" he smiled "Now come on" He pulled her towards the door
The hike to the water took an hour and it was an hour filled with Colby checking every five minutes on Rebecca which she was slowly getting annoyed with but she considered it more sweet than anything.
As she walked around the water and let the waves crash onto the sand and her feet, she smiled
"If only you knew where you were little one" she ran a hand over her stomach "We will have to bring you back here one day" she smiled
"Becks.." Colby said from behind her and she turned around and he motioned her over by the rocks and she walked over slowly "Can you reach that?" he pointed to a few rocks and she looked at him confused "I was setting my phone up to take pictures and it fell between the rocks and your hand is smaller than mine" he said and she glared at him before walking to the rocks, he followed her slowly and stood back.. waiting
"Why is there a box on your phone?" she asked confused
"Open it" he said quietly and she looked back at him and he was standing there smiling at her and she opened the box and sitting in it was a sliver charm for her charm bracelet
"Colby" she said "Why is there an engagement ring charm.." she said in a whisper
"Turn around and find out" he said and she stood there with her back to him, frozen and he waited
She took a deep breath and turned around and sure enough there he was on one knee just smiling at her and she shook her head, she was already in tears
"Yes" she said and he laughed
"It's good to know your answer but let me ask first" he said and she nodded "I love you, that's all I can say.. I wouldn't let a day pass without telling you how much I love you and how beautiful you are even when you think you're not, I don't know how we missed this for so long but I'm so thankful that we have found it because this has been hands down the best time of my life with you. You are my best friend first, the mother of my child and I want to be lucky enough to be able to call you my wife, I talked to your parents and your brother" he said and her jaw dropped "It was an interesting conversation but they all three agreed that they have never seen you so happy" he shook his head and she wiped the tears from her cheeks "and I promise to do everything in my power to keep you just as happy as you are now for the rest of our lives if you'll let me" he smiled up at her "So.." he took a deep breath and just took in this moment "Rebecca, Will you marry me?" he asked and she pulled him up, crashing her lips on his as her arms wrapped around his neck and he had to hold onto her to keep her from causing them both to crash to the ground "You can answer me now" he said and she smiled
"Yes" she said breathless "Yes" she said again and he smiled as he took the ring from the box and placed it on her finger "Oh my god it's gorgeous" she said admiring it
"You like it?" he asked and she nodded
"Love it" she corrected as her eyes were glued to the piece of jewelry
"I'm glad, That was not easy to come up with" he said and she looked at him confused "I didn't just buy that Rebecca" he shook his head "I had it made" he said and her jaw dropped "You deserved something unique that nobody else will ever have"
"Wow" she said in awe "How long have you been planning this?"
"Long enough" he said with a nod
"Oh my god!" she exclaimed and he looked at her with wide eyes
"What?" he asked with a laugh
"You're gonna be my husband" she said "That's insane" she shook her head
"You're going to be my wife" he said "Wow" he nodded "First time I've actually said that"
"It feels right" she said and he nodded
"It does"
"I love you Lopez" she smiled
