The Lopez household was quiet on this Thursday morning, it was a rare Thursday that the family wasn't rushing around and finishing errands before heading to the airport to catch a flight. Due to the holidays and filming two episodes of Monday Night RAW on Monday the family had 9 days off which was also rare.
Rebecca was awake before anyone else in the house, she actually got to make breakfast for the first time in forever.
Ella walked down the stairs at 10 that morning carrying her teddy bear in one hand and brushing her hair out of her face, she walked into the kitchen to see her mother placing toast on her plate that sat on the bar
"What's wrong?" Ella questioned and Rebecca looked down at her confused
"What do you mean?" Rebecca asked with a laugh
"You never make breakfast" Ella shook her head "Who died?" she questioned and Rebecca rolled her eyes
"We're never home for longer than three hours at a time El, I do know how to cook things other than dinner ya know" she said and the little girl climbed up to her chair
Colby came straggling into the kitchen just as confused as his daughter, he looked to the redhead and then to this daughter who was happily eating, he looked to the plate of food sitting on the bar and shrugged before grabbing his plate.. it was food, he wasn't going to turn it down.
They ate in silence, Rebecca looked between Colby and Ella who refused to look at one another. It had been 2 days since Colby missed the little girl's recital, 2 days since Ella had even spoken to him, 2 days of awkwardness around the house. It was almost Christmas and they would be leaving Monday night to fly to Ireland and she refused to have them not speaking.
She left them in the kitchen to get dressed and make phone calls to fix this situation, she was gone for 20 minutes before coming back into silence once again..
"Alright" Rebecca let out a frustrated sigh as she grabbed her phone in one hand and keys in the other "Get in the car" she said and Ella looked up at her confused
"Why?" Ella questioned
"Just get in the car" she said "Go" she said and the little girl stood up and began walking towards the garage and Rebecca looked at Colby who was still eating
"Lopez" she said and he looked over at her "Get in the car" she said
"I'm eating" he said shaking his head and she glared at him
"Get. In. The. Car" she said sternly and slowly
"Fine" he said as he stood up
It was a silent 30 minute drive, Colby was confused as he looked around at the surroundings and tried to figure out where he was. They pulled into the parking lot of the performing arts center and he looked to Rebecca
"Why are we here?" he asked as she put the car in park and turned it off
"You'll see" she said with a smirk as she got out
The family walked into the lobby and saw Holly standing there with a smile and a few garment bags in her hands
"Mimi!" Ella yelled as she ran to her grandmother
"Mom" Colby said "What are you doing here?" he asked
"I'm here to save the day, along with Rebecca here" she smiled at the redhead who simply nodded
"Come on little one" Holly grabbed her granddaughter's hand and began to take her one way as Rebecca pulled Colby in a different direction
10 minutes later, sitting in the auditorium Colby heard music from the nutcracker come over the loud speakers and he looked to Rebecca who just smiled at him and pointed to the stage.. he saw his daughter, his beautiful little girl come out on the stage in red leotard and green tutu with her hair slicked back in her perfect ballet bun.
He watched her as she performed effortlessly, she danced her little heart out on the stage. It brought tears to his eyes to see his little girl pouring her heart out into something she was passionate about and had worked so hard to perfect over the last few months.
After performing two other numbers for him, he felt Rebecca tap him on the shoulder and he looked back at her as she handed him a bouquet of pink and white roses and nodded for him to go backstage.
They walked backstage to the dressing room where Holly was just finishing putting the costumes back in their protective bags and Ella was zipping up her jacket, she looked up at her parents
"Did you like it?" she asked quietly and nervously
"I loved it the first time you did it" Rebecca nodded "but I must say, I loved this time even more.. Our own little personal show" she smiled and Ella smiled back at her before turning to her father and he handed her the flowers which brought an even bigger smile to her face
"You were beautiful up there" he bent down to be eye level with her "That was amazing" he said
"Are you crying?" she asked as she watched him wipe his eyes quickly and he shook his head and cleared his throat
"No" he said "It's the flowers" he said
"Don't let him lie to you El" Rebecca smiled down at Colby "I saw him shed a few tears while you were dancing" she said and Ella smiled up at her and wrapped her arms around her father tightly
"I love you Daddy" she said and he wrapped his arms around her as he stood up with her in his arms and just held her as close as he could get her
"I love you" he said kissing her head "More than You'll ever know"
