Colby quietly slipped out of the bed early Sunday morning, took a shower, got dressed, went to the coffee shop quickly that was down the street to get Rebecca's coffee for her before he slipped back into the room, placed the coffee on the nightstand and placed a kiss on each of his girl's cheeks before heading to do the media obligations before he would go to the venue.
Rebecca woke up two hours later to her daughter kicking her in the face, not the serene and loveliest way to be woken up but when you're a mother it's the reality. She opened her eyes just in time to catch her daughter's foot before it hit her in the nose
"Hey Kung fu panda, wake up" she said and Ella's eyes opened and she smiled
"Hi momma" she said
"How did you get turned upside down?" she asked with a laugh as she reached for her phone that was on charge on the nightstand
"Daddy's not taking up the whole bed" she said "he's a bed stealer"
"You have a bed to yourself.. right there" she motioned to the bed next to the one they were laying in
"but I like sleeping with you" she said innocently
"I like having you close to me but not when you're constantly kicking me all night, I got over that five and a half years ago, when you were inside me little miss" she said and Ella laughed
"Did daddy get breakfast?" she asked as she sat up, changing the subject
"He did" Rebecca nodded "It's in the refrigerator" she said and watched her daughter bounce out of the bed and open the refrigerator, pulling out the bowl of fruit "You better come share" she said and Ella came back quickly "I wish I had at least a fraction of your energy in the morning"
"You're old" Ella said and Rebecca's jaw dropped
"Hey!" she said and the little girl laughed
"Not my fault Nan didn't have you later"
"If nan had me later you wouldn't be here" she said and Ella looked at her and Rebecca waited for whatever comment her daughter was going to have but it never came "Oh my god you're actually speechless" Rebecca said "I actually won that argument" she said with a laugh "Momma one, Ella zero" she said
"More like Momma one, Ella one hundred eleventy seven" the little girl said "You never win arguments with me" she shook her head
"I used to win arguments with you all of the time when you couldn't talk" she said and Ella shrugged
"That's your fault, you taught me to talk" she said and Rebecca shook her head
"Who taught you how to argue?" she asked and Ella pointed at her
"You" she said
"I knew that was going to come back to bite me eventually" she said and the little girl giggled
"I like our talks momma" Ella said
"I love talking to you munchkin" Rebecca kissed her head
