Hunter kept his word, he talked to the coaches and they all collectively decided to give Becky a chance.
So three weeks after Colby's discussion with Hunter, Becky made her NXT debut on June 26th 2014.
She would be taking on Summer Rae.
She was nervous but excited, scared out of her mind but confident.
She knew she had it in her, she had worked for this her entire life and she wasn't about to let it slip away again.
Colby was backstage that night, he just so happened to be off that night and was able to make it down to Florida for the show.
"You've got to see this!" Tyler said as he pulled Colby to a monitor and pointed and he laughed "look!" He exclaimed
"Why the hell did they do to her?" Colby questioned
"You didn't honestly think they were going to give her an actual character did you?" Tyler questioned
"She deserves one.. hell let her be herself, not this.." he shook his head
When he'd told hunter to give her a chance he didn't mean throw her in bright green gear and make her do an Irish dance down to the ring..
That was probably more embarrassing to her than anything.
They watched the short match, it lasted less than five minutes. She got the win so that made him happy somewhat, she connected to the crowd just like Colby had told hunter she would.
He watched as his friend walked back through the curtain and talked to her coaches and hunter.
"Congratulations" he said as he walked up to her and she nodded
"Thanks" she said with a nod "but just a piece of advice" she started and he raised an eyebrow "don't ever go to the head boss on my behalf ever again" she said and walked away leaving him stunned
He stood there frozen in place for a few seconds before coming back to his senses and he shook his head.
"Rebecca wait!" He called out as he ran up to her and grabbed her arm "I wasn't trying to speak for you" he shook his head "I was trying to help" he said
"I understand that" she nodded "but look at it from my perspective, I'm working my ass off and I think I've finally proven myself to them when they tell me I'm making my debut and I'm proud of myself, just to be told it's because hunter had a talk with Seth a few weeks ago" she said and his jaw dropped
"It wasn't like that! I swear! I was just telling him it wasn't fair that all these other girls who aren't even half as good as you are were getting chances before you.." he said and she stared at him in silence "I really am sorry"
"I accept your apology" she nodded "but just promise me, no more going over my head or behind my back.. even though I do appreciate the effort.. just let me do it myself"
"Understood" he nodded and she smiled at him as she zipped her jacket up "you did really well though" he complimented her and she smiled at him
"Thank you" she nodded
"Tell me again though.. how did that dance go?" He questioned "was it something like this?" He shuffled his feet and she laughed
"Shut up!" She laughed and pushed his shoulder as she began to walk away
"Aw come on! I want to learn it!" He called after her
"Get out of here Lopez! You're embarrassing yourself!" She called back with a laugh
