December 14th - 3 hours Old

Ella had to stay in the NICU, she was hooked up to a heart monitor and another monitor to monitor her oxygen level.

Rebecca refused to leave, even though all of the nurses told her that they would call if something happened. She refused, Colby even offered to stay in the room but she was having none of it

"I'm not leaving" she said "They took her from me for an hour, when she needed me and she was probably scared and wondering where I went.." she shook her head "I'm not leaving her"

The nurses knew they weren't going to get anywhere with Rebecca, she wasn't going to leave and Linda signed off on her staying up there in the NICU, they managed to find a chair that could pull out into a bed and that's what she slept on, while Colby slept in a tiny wooden chair.

"She's so tiny" Rebecca whispered as she held the baby girl "She's a fighter though" she smiled running her finger over the baby's cheek

"All 4 pounds 4 ounces and 17 inches of her" Colby smiled over at her

"I think all of her clothes are going to swallow her" she laughed

"Is this your way of making me buy more stuff?" he asked

"Oh yeah" she nodded "That was our plan all along" she motioned to the newborn "I said, hmm how can I make him buy more stuff? and Ella was like.. don't worry, I got you Mom" she said with a laugh

"I believe it" he nodded "You two have been teaming up on me for months"

"And we will continue to do that forever" she said in a whisper and he placed a kiss on her lips and he took his daughter from her and held her close to his chest and Rebecca yawned

"Go to sleep" he said "I've got her" and he looked down at the baby who yawned as well "Why are you tired?" he asked her "You didn't do anything today" he said and Rebecca smiled as she watched him sit down on the chair

"We've had a rough 24 hours" Rebecca said with a small smile

Colby stared down at the little bundle who was snuggled up in a soft blanket and looked absolutely at peace and beautiful. Even after having 3 hours now to adjust to it, he could not believe he was a dad now, and this precious 4 pound baby in his arms was his daughter.

He shook his head as he let that fact sink in and he looked over at Rebecca who had drifted off to sleep, the pain medication they had given her was taking effect and he knew that it would more than likely be up to him that night because she would be out of it and truth be told, he was perfectly okay with that. Rebecca had just went through hell, it was traumatic for both of them and it emotionally drained them both but he knew his job now was to take care of his family, of his girls and he was going to do that.

"You're so beautiful" he whispered as the newborn looked up at him "Let me tell you something right now, You're never dating" he shook his head "Never ever ever" he said "Sorry about it, but that's not happening" he said "Your role model is gonna be your mom and if you turn out even a little bit like she is you're gonna be just fine" he smiled over at Rebecca whose eyes opened and she gave him a small smile "She's staring right at me" he said

"She knows your voice" Rebecca smiled "She should, you talked to her all the time" she said and he smiled down at the baby

"You're gonna be amazing" he spoke again "and whenever your mom says no, you come to me" he said "I got your back" he said and Rebecca laughed slightly "You're gonna be my best friend.. You're taking your mommy's spot on that one.." he looked over at Rebecca and then back down "Are you okay with being my little best friend?" he questioned and Ella yawned causing him to laugh "Yeah" he nodded "That was your mom's reaction to me the first few years too" he said and he watched her little eyelids flutter closed "I bored her to sleep" he said and he looked over at Rebecca
