After the twins were born the parents just stared at them for hours and admired them, Colby was talking when he looked over at his wife and saw she was fast asleep. She was exhausted and rightfully so, he was in awe of everything he had watched her go through the last 15 hours. Just when he thought she was going to give up she surprised him even more when she just gathered all of the strength she had left and kept going.
This tested her, it tested her strength and her will more than anything ever had. Ella's birth was different, yes she had dilated to 10 and went through all stages of labor but she had an epidural with the little girl, she didn't push her out because she couldn't.
Everything about this time around was different.
Crying is what woke him up, Colby opened his eyes and let them adjust to the sun that was now peaking through the window, it was currently 3 in the afternoon which meant the twins were now 6 almost 7 hours old.
He stood up from the pull out couch and walked over, picking the crying newborn up gently in his arms and she quieted almost instantly, he walked over to the couch and sat down with her as he gently bounced her a tiny bit and just stared at her.
"Ava.." he said "You've put your mom through it the last few months" he shook his head "You and your sister gave her quite the task" he shook his head "I don't know how she did it" he said and the baby opened her eyes and looked into his, they were big and dark, that could change in the next few months but he was secretly hoping that it didn't
"Hey" he heard his wife's voice and he looked over at her with a small smile as she reached for the other newborn
"Hi" he said as he looked down at the baby in his arms and then over to the one in hers "How are you doing?" he asked
"I'm in pain" she nodded "and tired" she said "but I'm doing okay considering the fact.." she said and he nodded
"Your mom keeps messaging me" he said and she smiled slightly "She wants to know when she can come up here"
"I think we have one more person that needs to meet them first" Rebecca said
"Ella" he smiled
"Ella" she nodded and looked down at Olivia who was sleeping contently in her arms "Yeah" she nodded "You have to meet your sister" she cooed
"She is going to freak out over you" Colby looked down at Ava "Yes she is" he nodded
A few hours later, Colby walked into his home after an exhausting and emotional night, he was met by his overly excited and rambunctious eldest daughter jumping into his arms almost knocking him over
"Hi" she said with a sweet smile as she looked up at him
"Hi munchkin" he said with a smile
"I'm ready to go" she said as he placed her on her feet again
"I know you are but I need to shower first and then we need to go get Mommy food"
"but I want to see my sisters" she pouted
"You will see them, trust me they will still be there when we get there.. Ava was fast asleep and Olivia was eating when I left" he said
"It took a long time" Ella nodded and Colby nodded in agreement
"Your mommy is a freaking superhero I'll tell you that much" he said "29 hours.." he shook his head "She did that and had contractions for 29 hours straight"
"Ow" Ella said and Colby laughed slightly
"Yeah ow" he nodded "I certainly couldn't do it"
"Me either" she shook her head "Too much pain" she said
