There's something privileged and delicate about friendships. You start off being the best person ever. Showing good and painting over the bad with more good. But then slowly you allow them to see the ugly parts of your personality. Allowing them to see you at your weak points, in thought and in deed. You let them witness all the annoying parts of you that even irritates you. And you hope through all of that... they still want to be around you. The best part of it is that the friends you had knighted will still look at you and see all of that wonderfulness that makes you, you. It's a sacred pact. That no matter how many times you bug them, push their buttons, say things you meant to say and those things you didn't mean to say, that your beauty will always outshine the times your faults honk loud in their ears. "A picture is worth a thousand words." And your picture that's pressed in their mind sings of all the thousand and one great things you are while your imperfections that try to get in their view are blocked behind the wall they developed out of love for you. And that song just so happens to be their favorite. So, best believe it's on repeat.
So, Best Friend,
You do that for me.
And I promise to do the same for you.
