"How long has she been like this?" a young girl softly asked as her eyes were glued on the mentioned girl who was sitting nonchalantly on the chair staring at nothing but the window. The tone of the speaking girl indicated a true sense of worry present and it showed a clear amount of sadness and guilt. "I have never seen her smile for such a long time." she added, slightly tilting her face to another girl sitting beside her.
The two girls were sitting far away from the smaller one near the corner of the classroom. Everyone, well, almost everyone had left for lunch, and all that's left was just the poor-looking girl.
"Eight months straight." the girl's friend beside her replied with a huge sigh escaping her lips naturally. "We rarely see her eat nowadays, Jihyo unnie. Even if we do, she only eats like a quarter of a normal human diet. I have not seen her interacting with any of the students at school nowadays."
They would continue looking attentively at the girl who was sitting peacefully yet sadly, not even bothering to look around her empty surroundings, except for the piles of crumpled papers that were previously thrown around by what could be the classroom's boys.
"Also, I haven't seen Chaeyoung and her together now for months. Something must have happened between them." Jihyo, the girl who asked first, let out a weak exhale and slightly leaned back as she folded her arms to the back of her head to be the substitute of a pillow. Her eyes formed thin lines and a sad frown was present as sympathy was drawn all over her feelings.
"I feel bad for Mina." was all she could deliver while still having her eyes closed. "When will she just forget it all and try to at least open up herself to the world, to us?" she stated weakly. "But, hearing what has happened to her, now I do feel her position, Momo." Momo hummed in confusion and looked up at the light above them at the ceiling, before diverting her eyes to Jihyo who was still in her resting position.
"What...what actually happened to Mina?" she asked curiously. "I mean, sure, heard something terrible happened to her from our friends, but I couldn't quite know what it was." she added. Jihyo opened her eyes, retracted her arms from their folding position, and pushed her body back forward to sit properly beside Momo, before releasing a long breath. She looked at her japanese friend, contemplating on herself whether or not to answer her pending question as she herself did not truly know what had actually happened to Mina.
"I dunno if this is in any way true or not, but I heard it from Lisa that-"
"She left me." Mina cut Jihyo's line without her expectation. Her first three clear words in eight full months. Her first time speaking again. Those three simple yet clearly sharp words made way for Jihyo and Momo to deliver their silence. The two girls looked at her back in surprise while the silent girl was still busy paying attention to the window with her chin resting on her right palm lazily.
"C-Chaeyoung?" Momo stuttered nervously, afraid to say it wrongly which can probably trigger her breakdown, but all she got in return was a small and weak scoff coming from the youngest girl among them.
"Who else?" she replied coldly, her voice cracky as if her emotions were threatening herself. "If it wasn't that damn Son Chaeyoung, who else?" she spoke the last two words softly, sounding like a small whisper. Jihyo and Momo looked at each other in disbelief while slowly widening their eyes, surprised that their theory was actually proven true— it had got to do with Chaeyoung. Jihyo emboldened herself to assist Momo in slowly delivering Mina with questions. She took a deep breath in and composed herself.
