Year: 1925
Winter took over as snowflakes took over the vast and wide land of Korea. Pure white-coloured snowflakes had invaded the country while the country itself was colonized by Japan. Villagers who lived in one big town worked for the governor for a living, while some spent their lives hiding in the dark shadows while scrounging for scraps in order to survive.
But, far away, beside the big and majestic Mount Jirisan, on a big hill by the deep woods, stood a small hut where a family lived in harmony. The father a farmer, the mother a huntress, and the son a small kid. They lived a challenging life, the father having to harvest all the crops at once for their sustenance, and the mother having to hunt for food and payment.
"Good, that's how you properly aim." the mother, Mina, had some time with her daughter Im Seuk, teaching her how to hunt while also having her daughter hold a catapult. "Aim for the vital parts, but remember not to make a sound." she whispered while Im Seuk was aiming her catapult at a small rabbit. Soon, the small girl took no hesitation to release the rubber band into the rabbit's leg, resulting in it flinching by the sudden attack and it scrammed off while whimpering.
"Look, eomma, I did it! I shot the rabbit!" Im Seuk squealed in pure delight. Mina giggled and ruffled her hair.
"Pabo-ya! It ran away!" she joked. Im Seuk pouted at her mother and was responded with a light pinch on her ear.
"You're going to teach our daughter how to hunt now?" her husband, Min Seuk, chuckled while picking up some wheats with his bare hands while wearing a farmer's hat. "It's a dangerous and no ordinary profession, Im Seuk-ya." he added.
"Unless you learn how to survive on your own." Mina chuckled. "A fraction of the town's population are all hunters who track animal footprints in these woods." the huntress stated. "Besides, it's what our daughter wants, right, Im Seuk?" she smiled. Their daughter nodded right away while giggling and hugged her mother tightly.

Im Seuk had fallen asleep fast, and it was already dawn. Mina woke up after Min Seuk who was busying himself preparing three loaves of bread for her hunt. He put the hot baked bread loaves in piece of cloth as he wrapped them up gently while avoiding dirt to get inside it.
Mina smiled seeing her husband's hard work and hugged him from the back lovingly while burying her face in the crook of his neck.
"I'll be fine, don't worry." she whispered and they kissed while smiling. She then went to their mattress and carefully picked up her rifle which was beside Im Seuk, her daughter's arm lying on it, so she had to take it carefully as to not wake her up.
She walked out of the hut after preparing everything she needed for her hunt, before Min Seuk came to approach her and handed her the wrapped food.
"Here, you forgot this. Have this when your tummy's loud." he chuckled. Mina politely refused, insisting that she could survive on her own.
"Aniya, you need to eat this food for yourself and Im Seuk. I can find food on my own."
"But you'll get starving." Min Seuk frowned. His wife smiled and kissed him on the cheek as she placed her hand on his.
"No need to be worried, dear, I promise I'll come back in one piece, and I'll even hunt a giant boar for us so we won't have to live a life starving." she smiled and walked away.
