Emory University
Atlanta, Georgia"Mama, I'm doing the last of my packing right now. I'm jumping on the plane first thing in the morning. I'll be home soon," Beyoncé Knowles told her mother as they talked over the phone.
"I'm just making sure Beyoncé. We miss you here at home. Even more since you didn't come home for Thanksgiving," Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, replied.
"I know Mama. I miss y'all too, but you know I couldn't come home. I needed to do work and study for finals. It would've been too much to take that flight home and then back for such a short holiday when Winter Break was right around the corner," she explained to her mother for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"I know Bey. I just can't wait to see you," Tina told her 18 year old daughter.
"I can't wait to see you too Mama. You, Daddy, Odell, Tyra, York, and Colin," Beyoncé replied as she continued to pack her bag.
"And I can't wait to meet your friend too. From what you've told me, she seems like I really nice person," her mother continued.
"Yeah, she is, but listen Mama. I've gotta go. I need to finish packing and make sure I have everything," Beyoncé told her mother as she got ready to hang up.
"Alright. You sure you don't want your father to send the private jet?" Tina asked.
"No Mama. I'm perfectly capable of flying commercial. That's too much for a simple flight back home anyway," Beyoncé sighed.
"Okay. Well, there'll be a car waiting for you at the airport to bring you home," Tina added.
"Mama, I told you that I would get a rental car," Beyoncé told her mother.
"You don't have to go through that trouble. There's gonna be a car for you and your friend," Tina reiterated.
"Okay Mama, but I gotta go though. I gotta make sure I've got everything packed," Beyoncé said.
"I'll talk to you later Bey. I love you," Tina told her youngest child.
"I love you too Mama. Bye."
They ended the phone call, and Beyoncé put her black iPhone 11 Pro Max on its charger before sitting it on her nightstand.
Beyoncé neatly folded up the rest of her clothes and carefully packed her other necessities, such as makeup, perfume, body wash, and lotion among other things. She finished packing the remainder of her things. She went through her mental checklist as she looked around her bedroom to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything.
She closed her luggage and sat it neatly on the floor against the wall.
