Beyoncé stood from her seat as the church service ended. The rest of her family and Leigh-Anne stood as well.
She turned around and saw Jay with his family.
"I'll meet you guys outside," Beyoncé told Leigh-Anne and her family before she walked off to talk to Jay.
She made her way over to where he was.
"Hey," Beyoncé smiled as she approached him and his family.
Jay looked at her and turned his head as he pulled out his phone and looked at it.
"Hi Beyoncé. How are you honey? How have you been at Emory?" Jay's mother asked her.
"I'm good, and I love Emory and Atlanta. It's a nice change of scenery. How have you been Ms. Gloria?" Beyoncé asked her.
"I've been good child. Just trying to keep this son of mine in check," Gloria said with a laugh.
"Mom, can you give us a minute? I'll meet you guys back at the house," Jay spoke for the first time since Beyoncé had approached him.
"Yeah, of course. Bye Beyoncé," his mother said as she and his other family members left the two alone.
Jay placed his phone back in his pocket.
"See you later Ms. Gloria," Beyoncé said.
"What's up ma?" he asked her with his signature smirk on his face.
"Oh. Now, you can speak to me? I thought whatever was going on your phone was too important," Beyoncé said to him.
He chuckled as he put his hand in his pocket.
"You got my undivided attention Baby Knowles. At least for the next ten minutes. I gotta get home. My mom's cooking collards, and I wanna get some before my uncle eats them all up" Jay said to her.
"I thought you were staying in a hotel while you were in town," Beyoncé said referring to the fact that his childhood home was full of family home for the holidays.
"I am. I'm just going over there to get something to eat. What do you need?" Jay asked her.
"Lance kept his eyes on me the entire service, and I just don't want to talk to him about it, so I need you talk me into talking to him," Beyoncé said.
"Look, think about it this way. The sooner you do it, the sooner it'll be over, and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Whatever happens happens, and you're both better off with the truth," he told her.
"When did you become so wise?" she asked him with a smile.
"So know I'm wise? I thought I was a 'self-absorbed idiot.' Your words, not mine," Jay replied referring to an insult that she had flung at him a while back.
