Beyoncé woke up in an unfamiliar place. She looked at her surroundings and realized that she was in a hospital.

Jay was sitting in the chair next to her bed, and when he saw that she was awake, he went and sat on her bed.

"What happened?" Beyoncé asked as she sat up and twisted her face up.

She was in a whole lot of pain.

She looked at his face, and it was obvious that he'd been crying. It was one of the only times she'd ever seen him cry, and she knew there had to be a reason behind it. All of a sudden her memories from before she'd collapsed came rushing back.

"No Shawn, please don't say it," Beyoncé said as she started to cry.

"You, um, you had a miscarriage Bey," Jay struggled to get out.

She just broke down because that was the last thing she wanted to hear. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him as she bawled into his chest.

Tears fell out of Jay's eyes as well as he held onto her. They were both shocked and deeply hurt because they just couldn't believe that their son was gone just like that.

"Why? What happened? What did I do wrong? We just went to the doctor today. Everything was fine," Beyoncé asked him as she lifted her head and her voice broke.

"Um, they said that you have a thyroid disease. Something called hypothyroidism. They said that your pregnancy caused your thyroid gland to be under-active with all of the changes in your hormone levels. Your doctor didn't know because it's not common in women your age and the symptoms of it, like weight gain, mimic pregnancy. You didn't get treatment, and it made you miscarry," Jay explained to her.

"This is my fault. I should've known. I should've been tested. Mama has thyroid issues. This is all my fault," she cried.

"It's not your fault Bey. You didn't know. You couldn't have known," Jay said.

They both just continued to hold each other and cry for a while. This was without a doubt the worst moment of both of their lives. Neither of them had ever experienced a pain like this before. They both just felt empty.

"Um, I have to...I have to call my mom," Beyoncé cried.

"I already did. She's on a flight out here, but Bey, there's one more thing I gotta tell you before the doctor comes in," he said to her.

"What?" she asked him.

"You've got to have surgery to deliver the baby. Something went wrong when you miscarried at home, and you're running the risk of an infection. The doctor is going to come in and talk to you about it more," Jay told her.

"Surgery? I don't-," Beyoncé started before Jay cut her off.

"I know Bey, but I'm gonna be right here. We're gonna get through this ma," he said as she held onto him and continued to cry.
