Gunther called me that night, siguro nagulat siya sa pagrereply ko. He was asking me in a worried tone but I assured him that I was fine.
"Ayos lang ako, Gun."
"Alright. So what's up? Why did you suddenly reply on my text?" he asked frigidly. "Anything bad happened?"
"Wala lang. Wala kasi akong magawa sa gitna ng awkward moment kanina." I chuckled and told the real reason since I can really count on him.
It was awkward because? I don't know, honestly. But maybe because we were alone and it doesn't feel, right? Whatever, I shouldn't really feel that way like how I feel with Chancent around. It should be normal.
"Awkward moment? Like?"
I inhaled softly. "You know Patch, right?"
"Yeah."
"Her boyfriend and I were left alone, it was awkward for me. That's why I decided to text you but you didn't reply!"
"I was busy with work. Why were you alone with her boyfriend?"
"Nagbanyo kasi siya, matagal iyon sa banyo parati kaya naiwanan kami roon."
'Tsaka hindi naman kami close kaya ayaw kong maiwang mag-isa.
"So you're a third wheel? Walang ibang kasama?"
"Mayroon pero umalis saglit, wala namang mali roon. I'm just really an awkward person."
He chuckled. "Sure, you are. Learn to socialize more, Sileas."
I sighed and rolled my eyes. I was learning but Mommy didn't like my choice of friends, I stopped. I don't wanna push myself into friendship that I didn't choose in the first place, kung nakikisama man ako sa mayayamang kaibigan ay hanggang doon na lang. They're not the friends I should count on and share my secrets with or tell whatever I feel in anything.
Medyo nagtagal ang pag-uusap namin nang gabing iyon, he told me about his day in the office, the plan for holidays and asked what I want. He informed me that they'll fly to our rest house in Europe and stay there until New Year with the whole clan—Gabanni's choice. Kaya pala tinapos na niya ang lahat ng trabaho.
Gunther is a good brother than Gabanni, hindi naman ako pinapansin noon at madalas walang pakealam sa akin kaya nakatatak na sa isip kong hindi niya ako tinuturing na kapatid. Para sa kanya, sila lang ni Gunther. Although, I'm really lucky that I have a brother, he was spoiling me and he always got my back. He never judged my existence and he cares for me.
The next morning started annoyingly, nagising ako sa ingay ni Patch at pagtalon-talon sa kama. Halos sabunutan ko siya nang maalimpungatan ako dahil ang sarap ng tulog ko at sobrang aga pa para manggising siya.
"Come on, sleepy head! Wake up!"
Padabog akong kumamot sa ulo at inabot ang cell phone sa ilalim ng kama para tingnan ang oras. May ilang messages si Mommy at ibang numero na hindi ko muna pinansin dahil sa iritasyon.
"Patch, it's too early!"
It was really a wrong decision to be with her in one room! I should've stayed in Brillante's room or anyone's, puwede rin kila Troi dahil tanghali naman silang nagigising at hindi manggigising ng ganito kaaga!
I can't believe her! Mag a-alas siyete pa lang!
"We're going to Bantayan Island, sa biyahe ka na lang ulit matulog! Arte!"
Napamulat ako, hindi ko alam na may ganoong plano. Nilingon ko si Patch, she's now busy with her cell phone while walking back and forth near the window, namataan ko rin si Arki at Troilus sa balkonahe.
