Bagsak ang mga balikat ko habang tinatahak ang pasilyo, mula sa ilang distansya ay nakita ko ang silid kung saan si Gunther—may mga bodyguards sa labas, they're just standing there like men in black with earpiece in their ears. Palapit pa lang ako ay lumingon na sa akin ang mga iyon, I don't really know them and I guess they're Miramontes' new set of bodyguards.
"Sileas Miramontes Villareal," kaswal kong sambit nang lumapit sa akin ang isa.
Walang reaksyon iyon. "Wala ka sa listahan ng inaasahang bisita ngayon, Ma'am."
My heart ached a bit. Seriously, I expected that.
"Of course, this is a surprise visit. I wanna see my brother, you can tell it to him to be clear," I said formally.
Tumitig siya sa akin kaya tinaliman ko ang tingin.
"I'll wait, please, tell my name. I know he's awake, I just wanna see and talk to him."
Huminga siya ng malalim bago nilingon ang isang bodyguard sa pinto, tumango siya roon at pumasok iyon sa silid. I waited only a minute and the bodyguard went out, nagtanguan ulit sila noong nasa harapan ko bago minwestra sa akin ang daan.
Nakahinga ako ng maluwag, I walked into the room quietly and Gunther sitting on the hospital bed welcomed me. His eyes widened in real surprise, I smiled shyly and took steps near him.
"Good afternoon, Kuya..." I greeted formally.
He breathed in and stood up, I saw him stumble a bit and I quickly supported him on the arm.
"Sileas..." he mumbled as his arms wrapped around me. "You're really here."
I nodded while hugging him back, I buried my face on his chest and I got emotional but I stopped it immediately. I didn't expect he'd welcome me like this because I thought, he'd throw me off.
"I miss you, Kuya."
He gasped and hugged me more. "How are you?"
"Ako pa talaga ng tinanong mo, I should be the one asking that."
"I'm fine now, magaling na ang sugat ko. You really surprised me."
I laughed a bit and looked at him. "Sinabi na nga sayo ang pangalan ko."
"Yes, but I thought it was just an enemy's way to get to me."
I gasped. Paano kung totoo iyon? This careless brother!
"You should be careful next time, please. I'm so worried about you, napauwi talaga ako para mabisita ka."
He looked at me doubtfully. "One week na ako rito, lagpas pa nga at ngayon ka lang nagpunta."
"I'm sorry, I was a bit hesitant but I really wanted to see you."
He messed my hair up and snickered, he was about to say something when the door opened behind.
"What are you doing here!?" Lola's voice thundered.
Kumalabog ang dibdib ko sa kaba, kahit kabado ay hinarap ko pa rin siya at kitang-kita ko ang galit sa kanyang mga mata.
"Lola!" Gunther called. "Don't start!"
"No, this thick face girl has the guts to face us, huh! What is she doing here? She's an evil mess! We don't need someone like her here!" mangiyak-ngiyak niyang sigaw.
"I'm not here for you or the other people, Mrs. Miramontes. I'm here to see my brother, you don't need to call me names just because you assumed that I was here to see you," I said formally.
