Happy holidays! Can you believe this year is almost over? I hope your year had been good. And we're also getting to the end of Roommates! I don't want to finish it because I really love writing this story but it's coming to an end. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it

Wednesday, December 4
[Caitlin]

When Caitlin woke up that morning, she noticed that Natalie was sitting on the bed.

"Nat?"

"My dad's coming to visit."

Caitlin didn't reply, so Natalie kept talking.

"I know how he feels about you. And I just don't know what to do. Mom's asking if I'm coming home again for Christmas, but I can't if he's going to be there."

"Natalie, why did you really come here?"

Natalie sighed. "I want to go to college. I want to make a future for myself. I want to help mom."

Caitlin went over to her. "Oh, Natalie."

"I know that you and I have been at odds for years. I thought that maybe you could help with this and we could patch things up in the meantime. But if my dad's coming back, then that means we can't see each other."

"Of course I'll help you get into college. And we've already patched things up, so that's taken care of. And as for seeing each other, I think we could make it work."

"I love you, Caitlin."

"I love you too."

After getting ready for classes, Caitlin headed out after making sure her sister was emotionally okay. On the way to her dorm, she ran into Ronnie who was also headed to his class.

"Ronnie, it's good to see you."

"Caitlin, hey. It's been awhile. How's it going?"

"It's good. How about you? How's the structural engineering going?"

"Pretty good. Hey, do you want to study sometime?"

"Sure. Yeah, that sounds great. Just let me know when."

"Okay. Well, I should get going. But it was nice seeing you."

"You too, Ronnie."

The two went to their classes and throughout the day, something was on Caitlin's mind, but she didn't know what it was. It drove her crazy, but it went to the back of her mind when she met Barry at the cafeteria for lunch. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Lola and Blaire sitting with him at the table.

"Hey."

Barry smiled widely when a noticed her. "Cait. You remember Blaire and Lola."

"I do."

Caitlin took the seat across from Barry and they all started to talk. Lola and Blaire were really nice and Caitlin enjoyed getting to know them. It wasn't until they all said goodbye that Caitlin realized what was bothering her.

Barry was acting different with her around their other friends. He didn't kiss her, cuddle her or pull her close like he would.

Was he embarrassed by their display of affection? Did he not want people to know?

After one of her classes, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number

"Hey, we need to talk."

[Barry]

After eating, Barry headed to his next two classes and then headed to the track for some training. Lola went to the track also and decided to join Barry.

"Do you mind if I join?"

"No, not at all."

They trained together and after they trained, Barry went to the dorm to shower and then headed to his next class. As he headed there, Jessica stopped him and punched him in the arm.

"Ow, for real?"

"That's for being stupid."

"What did I do?"

"It's about what you aren't doing."

Barry furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"It's not that hard, Barry. It's the thing you do with only Caitlin that you haven't done in front of people."

Jessica walked off and Barry was utterly confused as to what she was talking about. He began to list everything he only did with Caitlin, which is sleep, study and make out

"Oh."

When was the last time he did?

Also, he never really kissed her in front of their friends.

Was that it?

Barry decided to get the answers for himself, so he texted Caitlin and told her to meet him at the dorm.

Barry got there before she did and Natalie wasn't inside. When Caitlin arrives, Barry stood up and immediately said, "Is this because I haven't kissed you in front of anyone?"

Caitlin sighed. "Jessica told you?"

"She's not one to hide anything, especially if it has to do with us. But you're not answering my question."

She sat down on her bed and he sat next to her. "Is it because you're embarrassed?"

"What? No! Look, I just haven't done it yet because I like to keep this between us. You know? It's like our little secret. But it's not because I'm embarrassed or I don't like doing it. I love kissing you."

Barry pulled her onto his lap as he pressed his against hers. She pulled away a minute later and glanced at him

"I'm sorry for telling Jessica."

"I'm sorry for not paying attention."

Just as they were about to kiss again, Barry's phone vibrated with a text message appearing on his screen.

"I'll see you later, okay?"

He pecked her lips and she got off of him and before he could head out the door, she spoke out to him

"Where are you going?"

"Lola and Blaire want to hang out and they're going to introduce me to the rest of the team. I'll see you later."

With one more peck to her lips, Barry headed out. What he didn't realize was how it appeared to look as he ditched the apple of his life to hang out with some other girls.

And what he didn't know was that deep, deep down inside of the apple of his life was a feeling she had never felt before
