CatCo
Supergirl RoomBarry walked in, looking a little overwhelmed. "Hey, Barry." Barry looked to see that Kara was in there. She knew what just happened but was trying to put on a good face.
"Hey, how's everything going on in here?", Barry asked as he looked at Mon and Kara glanced at Barry, with sparkles in her eyes. Wanting to tell him everything.
"Uh, Dirk Armstrong's e-mail accounts, and there are several, um, are harder to crack than Catco's, almost, - so I'm just getting into it.", Mon said. "Anything else from Ms. Grant's e-mails?", Barry asked. "Uh, more of the same.", Kara said.
"Uh, well, no, actually, there was this one e-mail from the bank, um, asking for Cat's electronic signature so they could approve a wire transfer into an account belonging to an Adam Lane.", Iris said. "Oh. That's Adam. It probably says that he's 24, lived in Opal City. Right?", Kara said and Iris slightly nodded as she read the e-mail.
"Yeah, Except before Adam & Cat met, Cat made monthly payments into his personal account.", Iris said and Kara stared at her, in confusion. "What?", Kara asked.
"Yeah, it was almost like she was keeping him on the side before they met for the first time.", Iris said and Kara didn't understand. "Let me see that.", Kara said and Iris handed it to her. Barry glanced at Kara as she read the e-mail but then looked away when Kara looked at everyone again.
"I'll be right back.", she said before leaving the room and headed to Cat's office.
Cat's Office
"Wait. So you thought I was supporting Adam, like, what? A rent-boy?", Cat asked. "Well. No. Just a bit confused.", Kara said. "I didn't even talk to Adam until we met last year.", Cat said. "I know..I know..but..I remember that a couple of years ago when I sent your Christmas cards, there was one addressed to a A. Lane in Opal City.", Kara said and Cat took in a deep breath.
"Damn it.", she said. "Ms. Grant?", Kara asked. "Adam's father is somebody who I hadn't dated very long. I didn't know him very well. He's not Carter's father.", Cat said. "But, Ms. Grant, I already knew this.", Kara said. "This is the story you or anyone know about. Adam was just one of those things that I hadn't planned on when I was building Catco. My ex told me that I didn't care about my son, that all I cared about was my business, and why should either of them stick around?", Cat said and Kara slowly sat down in a chair.
"Was that true?", she asked. "I don't know. I sued for custody. I hired a powerhouse attorney and I threw everything I had at him, but I lost and the Lanes took him in.", Cat said and Kara was slightly taken back.
"But you tried. Sometimes all you can do is try.", Kara said. "I didn't lose. I quit. I dropped the lawsuit. I was working at Catco 24-7 and, well, I really did believe that we would be in each other's lives.", Cat explained. "What happened? Did you just send him off?", Kara asked. "No. I did not just send him off. You have no idea what that moment is like when you have to say to yourself, 'Maybe my child would be better off without me.'.", Cat said as she sat up and walked over to get a glass of whiskey.
"I just know what it feels like to wonder about a mother's choices.", Kara mumbled to herself before sitting up and looking at Cat.
"Would you make a different decision if you could go back?", Kara asked. "I stopped asking myself that question years ago. Not being there for Adam all these years was my greatest regret. And now, for all we know, somebody is about to release the truth about him and he'll hate me.", Cat said. "Maybe you could talk to him. Try and get him to understand.", Kara said. "No. After everything I've done, I don't get to do that. He's going to get hurt. By me. But I will not allow him to be in the middle of a hideous media storm.", Cat said and Kara crinkled her eyebrows, in concern and worry.
"What? What are you going to do?", Kara asked. "I will negotiate a graceful, lucrative exit. And I will step down from Catco.", Cat said and Kara was taken back.
"Are you sure you want to do this?", Kara asked as they walked out of Cat's office.
"Well, like taxes, aging, and participating in Martha Stewart's annual Secret Santa, this is something I have to do.", Cat said before Lucy, Mon, Iris & Barry ran towards them.
"Hey-", Barry exclaimed. "What are you guys doing here?", Kara asked.
"Saving the day! Take a look at this.", Iris said before handing a piece of paper to Cat. "Where did you get this?", Cat asked.
"Uh, well It- You know, it's probably better if we don't tell you, Ms. Grant.", Mon said. "From a legal standpoint.", Lucy said. "So uh you launched this investigation of Dirk because?", Cat asked. "Because I-I overheard something he said after the board-", Kara started to say and Iris & Mon gave her a look. "Actually, uh, it was what you said, about him, uh, smelling blood. Mmm-hmm.", Kara said and Barry gave her a confused look since she told him she overheard him. Cat stared at Kara for a while, deeply thinking about what was just said from Kara, before looking at Iris.
"Iria. Stall the press and tell that walking personification of white male privilege to come to my office.", Cat said.
Night
Cat was on the terrace, looking out on the dark night and stars when Kara went to check up on her. "Hey, Ms. Grant. You okay?", Kara asked and Cat looked at her and gave a look as if she knew something.
"I promise I won't tell Adam about anything.", Cat said. "Oh, Kara.", Cat said as she turned fully towards Kara.
"Another week, another crisis averted thanks to you. My secret weapon, my guardian angel.", Cat said and Kara started to smile.
"It was nothing.", Kara said. "Oh, no. It was something. It was something extraordinary. You saved me from a very embarrassing situation with Adam. You know, I was thinking, about how you overheard Dirk after the board meeting. I was standing right next to you and there is no way that he was within earshot.", Cat said and Kara started to internally panic.
"Um-", Kara started to say. "Then I was thinking about the earthquake and how you got sick for the first time since I've known you. And you had a broken arm, and Supergirl mysteriously went MIA. And then she came back, and your cold was gone.", Kara said. "That's just a coincidence.", Kara said, trying to sound convincing.
"I was also thinking about Livewire. About how when she attacked us, you fled into the stairwell.", Cat said. "Because you asked me to.", Kara said. "Yes. But not two seconds later, Supergirl shows up. Another coincidence? And let's not forget that you took it personally when I named her 'Supergirl'.", Cat explained. "Sure, for- for uh political reasons.", Kara said. "Do me a favor and take off your glasses.", Cat said. "My glass, I-I'd-I'd be blind without them.", Kara shuttered. "I doubt that. If you're not who I think you are, what does it matter?", Cat asked. "Ms.
Grant. I-", Kara started to say."Glasses or I take it as a confirmation.", Cat said and Kara slowly took off her glasses, with her hands shaking scared what Ms. Grant could do with the information. Cat smiled at Kara in amazement to finally know that she's Supergirl.
"Well. Let me begin by saying thank you for all the help that you've given me, Supergirl.", Cat said and Kara stared at her awkwardly.

Barry was in his apartment with a show playing in the background but he wasn't paying attention to it as he was re-thinking over and over again what had happened that day. But the more he thought about it, the more he thought about the past of everything that confused him. Kara & Supergirl are both great. They both had the same hair and color eyes. They both have a beautiful smile. They're both fearful. Barry cared for both of them in the same way. They couldn't be the same person, could they? He started to just think about his moments with Kara & Supergirl, to try to figure out his confusion.
