Gabe's P.O.V
"You can't call him everyday kid, he's on vacation.", dad said as we went downstairs.
"I-I know. I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I know you were upset. You-You can talk to me too though."
"Y-Yeah. I know." As if. Cameron was already at the table when we got downstairs, tacos on the table. My favorite. Too bad I had no appetite. I actually felt really sick.
"How was your day?", dad asked me as we sat down. I shrugged,
"Fine."
"Did you talk to Rosa today?"
"I-I think we're fighting. I-I don't know."
"Why would you be?"
"I-It's not important."
"It seems important."
"I-I told Damon she stopped eating and when she does, she gets sick. I told her if she didn't stop I'd tell him." Cameron scoffed,
"Maybe it'll help her lose a few pounds." I bit my tongue,
"Can I be excused?"
"No, you haven't eaten.", dad said, his cold glare on Cameron, "Why would you say that?", he asked him.
"Have you seen her?"
"Cameron Rosa is part of our family now. You need to respect her just like you respect the rest of us."
"You think he respects me?", I laughed painfully, "Yeah, sure."
"I just think he could do better than some fat, suicidal chick."
"Rosa's more than what she shows you.", I snapped, "She knows you hate her. It kills her. All she wants is for my family to love her like I do. Dad does. But you can't get past her flaws. And that's all you've got too! She has curves and she's been through hell. Those are the only two flaws you can find in her. Rosa came from an awful home. One you'd run. She just got out and into a better place and the last thing she needs is you treating her lile her parents did. You don't know her, you don't even know me."
"You're my brother."
"And you don't know me. What's my favorite color?"
"Orange."
"Blue-grey. It's the color of Rosa's eyes."
"That's cliche."
"I'm cliche now. I like being cliche and the people who actually love me, like it too."
"Cameron, he's right. You don't know who he is now.", dad cut in, "And you don't know Rosa either. You can't make assumptions on people you don't know. You don't know her story and you can't judge her based on what you see." He paused, glancing at me and down to my sleeve before freezing, "You're bleeding." I glanced down, seeing blood soaking through my hoodie sleeve.
"Shit.", I muttered, getting up and going to the bathroom. I quickly cleaned up my cuts that had opened up again and wrapped them up in gauze before walking out. Dad and Cameron stood in the hallway,
"So what, you're slitting your wrists too?", Cameron asked.
"That's none of your business.", I choked out, feeling lile I couldn't breathe.
"It is my business. You're my brother."
"Only because I have to be."
"Okay enough.", dad said softly, "Gabe, we have to talk about this." I peered at the floor,
"Y-Yeah."
"Go to my room, I'll be there in a minute."
~~~~~~~~
Dad came in about ten minutes later. I kept my nose pressed to the corner.
"Kid, c'mere. You didn't need to do that."
"I'm in trouble.", I shrugged, shuffling over to where he sat on the bed.
"No, we just need to talk. Why'd you do this?"
"Cam hates me."
"He does not."
"He does. He thinks I'm just a spoiled brat and he hates me and Rosa and I can't fix it and he's older so you're gonna side with him 'cause he's smart and successful and I'm just here. He just picks at my insecurities and now I gave him another one. I hate myself. I hate everything about me. All I do is start fights and make mistakes and hurt the people I love until they hate me."
"That's not true. That's what your brain makes you think. I love you, Rosa loves you, Brax loves you, and even if he doesn't admit it, Cameron does too. You're his little brother. I know he doesn't know you anymore and I wish he'd try to. He has no right to talk about Rosa like that and if he makes any jokes or bugs you about this, I'll beat his ass too. It's unacceptable." I laid my head on his shoulder as he hugged me tightly, "I love you. We're gonna get past this. I promise."
"I know. I love you too."
"You should call Rosa. Try and talk with her." I nodded,
"Will-Will you stay while I do?" He nodded,
"Of course."
"Yeah?", Rosa answered after four rings.
"Hey. Are-Are you okay?"
"Far from it. Thanks.", she snapped. I flinched,
"I'm-I'm sorry. I had to make the responsible decision Rosa."
"I-I know. I'm sorry. I'm just really tired and stressed out and sick. It's not your fault."
"It is."
"No it's not. He needed to know. I was just too scared to tell him. You did it because you care about me, I know that."
"Good. It's true. Did-Did he freak out on you?"
"No. He-He cried though."
"I'm sorry."
"I-it's okay. We're getting past it."
"Good. I love you."
"I love you too."
~~~~~~~~
When I walked out into the living room nervously, Cameron hugged me tightly,
"I'm so sorry. For being mean to you and making jokes about Rosa and-and- all of it. I'm sorry."
"I-it's okay.", I whispered.
