Damon's P.O.V.

*One Year Later*

Rowan's phone rang as I glared at him sternly. His ears turned red as he set his fork down and pulled it out of his pocket,

"Sorry." He paused, "It-It's Mila. Can I...-"

"Go ahead.", I sighed. He left the room as I heard a door open before laughing. "Rosa's home.", I muttered, smiling softly. Her and Gabe came in, still laughing a little,

"Sorry we're late.", she said.

"It's alright. Get a plate kids."

"Where's Rowan?"

"On the phone with Mila."

"Oh. Is she okay?"

"I'm not sure."

Mila's P.O.V.

Zach looked up from the bible he'd read a billion times,

"What's wrong?", he asked softly. I shook my head,

"Nothing. I'm fine."

"Mila don't lie. I know you. Something's wrong."

"I-I need to tell you s-something.", I whispered, glancing at the doorway of my room where my bags sat.

"Okay, what's wrong?"

"I-I um- I'm-"

"Kid, just calm down. You can tell me."

"I-I'm trying-"

"I'm gonna love you either way-"

"Zach shut up.", I forced a laugh, "You preach to me about talking to you and telling you the truth and I'm trying but you won't let me speak."

"You're right. I'm sorry.", he said softly, giving me all of his attention. That was one of my favorite things about Zach. He always gave me all his attention if I needed any of it.

"I...-" I can't lose him. "I don't think I'm-" Where could I even go? "I'm not-" You can't do this forever. You have to tell him. "I don't think I'm c-christian." He laughed a little,

"That's what you were so scared to tell me?" I nodded. "What are you then? Catholic? Jewish? Buddhist?"

"A-Agnostic.", I whispered, looking again at my bags. Zach stood up, walking towards me as I stepped back, "I-I'm sorry.", I whispered.

"I'm not gonna hurt you.", he said quietly, painfully, "I'd never hurt you Mila."

"I-I just- religion is such a huge part of you and-and I didn't know how you'd react." He glanced behind me,

"I'd never kick you out or hurt you. Unpack your bags, now. You're not going anywhere." I smiled softly, hugging him,

"I'm sorry."

"Stop. I never meant to make you believe what I believe. You're your own person."

"It's okay."

I laid my head on Zach's shoulder,

"Can-Can I change my mind later?"

"Of course. You chose your religion. It's not like your eye color or sexuality. You're young, you have so much time to learn and travel and believe so many different things. And I hope you do. You can change your mind a million times and I will always be here to support you and love you. But, whatever you chose, commit to. I never go a day without praying, even if it's talking in my car or silently at the office."
