Luke's P.O.V.

I woke up as the alarm went off at nine.

"No.", Bella whined from beside me. I gently pushed her tangled hair from her face,

"Yes love. Staying in bed doesn't help anything."

"Do you have to work?"

"No. Zach gave me strict orders to stay home until you were better."

"Then we don't need to get up." I gently pulled her into a sitting position,

"Yes we do. You need to eat breakfast and get dressed and brush your hair and teeth." She whimpered. "Do you feel any better today?" She glanced at me before shaking her head a little,

"No. Not even a little." I nodded,

"Okay. Thank you for being honest. If you don't feel any better by like, tonight, I'm gonna take you to a doctor tomorrow. Okay?" Tears brimmed her eyes as she looked down,

"Y-Yeah." I gently tilted her head up,

"Hey, it's gonna be alright. I'll stay right with you the whole time, okay?"

"No, I-I know. I just- if I'd known it would get like this, I would have told you sooner. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I know now, that's what matters."

I stopped at Mr. Tyler's room as he looked up from his desk before glancing at his watch,

"Wow. You're gonna go yell at her for the whole hour in front of her class?"

"Kaden she messed with my kid. If she had approached me about it, it would be a different story but she didn't. Bella is really messed up right now and it's gotten so much worse since Monday. Normally, I'd let her stay home alone and not worry about it, but today I made her stay with Ash and he's not allowed to let her out of his sight."

"That's probably the best option Luke. Sanders is a bitch and she's always treated kids like shit but she's done a lot for the school so they won't fire her. It's about time someone put her in her place. They can't do anything but ask you to leave."

"Oh I know. I'm gonna go yell at her. She hurt my kid, the nicest I can do is embarrass her."

"Agreed." I made my way down the hallway, hearing a woman yelling loudly as I approached a door labelled Mrs. Sanders. Great. I knocked and let myself in as she looked up,

"Can I help you sir?"

"I need to speak with you. I'm Bella's dad." A girl in a desk popped up a little,

"Is she okay?"

"She will be. Some people haven't been too nice to her lately."

"We can step outside.", Mrs. Sanders said.

"Oh, no, I wouldn't want to leave your class unattended. Besides, I'd like to include them in this conversation about my daughter." She smirked a little,

"Okay. Well, to start, she never pays attention. She sits there in silence and stares off at the board whenever I'm teaching."

"So, how do you know she's not paying attention?"

"Because she's not." I glanced at the class, singling out a kid who seemed to be zoned off at the board,

"Hey, What're you learning today?", I asked him. He jumped a little at the attention,

"Um, the-the proper way to write essays and professional letters." I nodded, looking back to the teacher,

"He didn't look like he was paying attention either. Just because kids aren't involved in your class doesn't mean they aren't paying attention. I don't know how Bella acts in your class but I know that she comes home and spends hours upon hours doing and redoing your classwork and continuously not understanding. It's your job as her teacher to help her and you don't. All you do is put her down and tell her she's stupid and she's not. I have never met another human, let alone a child, that I could rightfully call stupid. But for a teacher to do it? That's unacceptable. Bella is twelve. She should not be so stressed out and messed up because of you specifically." I turned back to the class, "How many of you feel like you don't understand anything in here?" Majority of hands went up. "How many of you has she said mean things to, especially about how you learn?" More hands went up. "That's the problem. You will absolutely be hearing from my lawyer. I suggest you do your job and nothing else for my daughter."

"Your daughter doesn't try."

"You have no idea how hard she tries. All I see is how much you don't try." The bell rang as most of the class started to leave. "I will not bury my daughter because of you. Enjoy your job while you still have it. Nobody gets away with messing with my kids." I turned to walk out, just in time to catch the kid I'd called out, "Hey, I'm sorry I called you out like that." He shrugged,

"It's no big deal. That was badass how you called her out on everything." I shrugged,

"It needed to be done." The girl who'd asked me if Bella was okay stopped me as I passed Kaden's room,

"Are you sure she's okay? I'm really worried about her."

"She will be. I'm taking care of her. Are you a friend?" She nodded, extending her hand,

"I'm Millie."

"Luke.", I said shaking her hand, "I'm glad she has a friend. I was starting to think she was mostly alone at school." Millie shrugged,

"No one wants to hang out with us."

"Mill, you cannot be late again. Go.", Kaden said stepping into the hall.

"I'll be fine."

"Millana. Now.", he said sternly. She groaned, rolling her eyes and going to leave. He grabbed her arm gently, "Hey. The attitude. Get rid of it. I'm trying to help you out before your mom has your ass."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"It's alright. Go on. Have a good day."

"Bye K. Bye Luke."

"See ya kid." She bolted off down the hall as Kaden sighed,

"She's my niece. I'm supposed to watch out for her but it's hard. She's a lot."

"I get that. And thank you for watching out for Bella."

"Of course. She's really the only friend Millie's ever had."

"I don't think Bella's had many friends either. I should get home before she gets suspicious."

"Yeah. Thanks for coming up here. It means a lot to a lot of kids."

"I'm taking her to court too. I have enough evidence." He nodded,

"Good." He went into the room as a girl gasped,

"Tyler you'll never believe what happened last hour!"

"Someone called out Sanders on her bullshit?"

"How did you know!?"

"He's a friend of mine. And Millie came to tell me."

"Well he's badass."

I passed the note to Bella,

"Wanna explain?" She broke down sobbing,

"I-I-I'm sorry I-I'm stupid.", she cried.

"What? No, no baby that's not what I meant at all. No. You're not stupid baby. You're incredibly smart. Sanders is a fucking bitch and I'm taking her to court. You're not the only kid she's treated like shit and I will not bury my baby because of her."

"You went to yell at her, didn't you?"

"It's... possible..." She smiled softly,

"Thanks for sticking up for me."

"My pleasure."

"Can I ask a favor?"

"Of course baby."

"Can we get a trampoline? Please!?", she begged. I sighed a little, smiling,

"Sure."
