Fall Play - Part Two

Roman's POV

I see Patton and Mr. Black huddled together talking about something while the people on stage are running through some lines.

I nudge my friend sitting next to me.

"Hey Virge..." I say quietly.

"Yeah Princey?" The emo nightmare turns to look at me.

"Look at Patton." I gesture to the two teachers chatting and Patton smiling widely.

He notices what I'm talking about and a smirk forms on his face.

"I ship it." He says while looking at Patton and Mr Black.

"Me too."

"Wanna play Cupid?" He raised an eyebrow at me and his smirk grows.

"Let's get them together." I stick out my hand and we shake on it.

We look back at the future couple and hear a large laugh come from someone.

Mr Black?

Mr Black Laughed?

WHAT.

WHAT.

WHAT???

Mr Black smiles wide at Patton who was still snorting in laughter at what I'm guessing was a dad joke he told Mr Black.

Virgil turns to me with a look of pure shock and maybe also a little fear.

"Did Mr Black just...."

"I-I think he did..." I say back.

"And h-he's smiling." He stutters, still processing the sound of Mr Black laughing.

"I know Patton can make everyone laugh, but Mr Black? I was sure that he was a lost cause!"

We look at the pair in bewilderment.

We're looking at them and getting lost in confusion when we are thrown out of our thoughts by Mr Black's voice.

"Okay students, whoever has part in scene 1, 2 or 4, please make you way to the stage with Patton. Any art, craft or design students interested in helping me design and make costumes, please follow me backstage and everyone else you can head home for the day if they want." He finishes talking and walks backstage. Before I head up on stage, Virgil beckons me to his side. "You handle Patton, I'll handle Mr. Black." I shoot him a thumbs up as he and a few other students follow the tall teacher backstage.

Virgil's POV

While Mr Black talks about costumes and how they should be historically accurate, I think about how to get him and Patton together.

Almost everyone in school hates Mr Black because he doesn't display his emotions often. It really makes me mad because he's one of the only teachers that goes out of his way to help me with my anxiety. So even though he doesn't jump around laughing and smiling all the time, he is very kind. He even took it upon himself to learn multiple ways of helping me when I'm having a panic attack.
