Patton was unhappy.
Patton didn't like his situation.
Patton didn't want to have a crush on one of his regulars in the coffee shop he works at.
Patton didn't like that he wasn't dating his crush.
Patton didn't think it was fair that such a handsome man came and went every single day to the coffee shop and he wasn't dating him.
So in short...
Patton wasn't happy.
He stood at the counter, as he did most mornings as he took and made orders for the customers that walked in for their morning coffees, hot chocolates or teas.
He waited as he did most mornings for his favourite customer to enter the shop and soon enough, he did.
Patton smiled fondly to himself as the tall, handsome, smart man walked in and walked through the seating area to the counter. He had dark, neat hair that fell to the left, a black button up shirt, a necktie with stripes of different shades of dark blue across it and black dress shoes that made their way ever so calmly to the counter. The man smiled ever so slightly at the barista at the counter who had quickly stood up straight and remembered that it wasn't his job to drool at handsome men that walk through the door.
"Hi Logan! Black coffee like usual?" He asked, much cheerier now that he had arrived.
"Yes please Patton." He said in a cool, deep, yet formal tone which made the barista's heart flutter.
"That'll be $2." He said as Logan handed him the money, allowing the smaller male to go make the drink.
Patton listened to the whirring sounds of the coffee machine to try and calm himself down and get the butterflies in his stomach the stop moving. He took the to-go cup that was no longer empty and now full of coffee and placed it in front of the tall, dreamy man. He smiled down at Patton warmly as he took his coffee.
"Thank you Patton." He said as Patton felt his face go from it's usual slightly tanned color to a dark red and thanked the universe that Logan had already looked away and didn't see him in such a flustered state.
The barista went to wipe down the counter when his co-worker, that had seen the entire exchange started talking to him.
"When are you going to ask him out?" The taller, confident male asked the flustered, shorter man.
"Uhhhhh....... Never?" He said while picking at his fingernails and looking down at the floor.
"Come on Pat! I always said that I'd never ask out Virgil but I finally did and we've been going strong for almost a year now!"
"I-I know but that's different!" He said trying to pull together reasons to justify him deciding to never ask Logan out.
"How is it different Pat?"
"Be-because you wrote 'I like you a latte, wanna go out sometime?' on his cup and that is not the kinda thing Logan would appreciate."
"Honestly it wasn't the kinda thing Virge appreciated either, it took about two weeks to convince him that it wasn't a joke." He said while rubbing his neck and laughing slightly after.
"Still I can't ask out Logan!"
"Why not?"
"Because he's smart, handsome, tall, has a good job, funny, has a great person-" Patton begins saying with so sign of stopping when Roman cuts him off.
"I know you like him Pat but I don't need the biography."
"I'm just saying that he's too good for me..." Patton said and began to twiddle his thumbs and not making direct eye contact. Roman grabbed Patton's hands and lifted them up so that their gazes met.
