Her eyes snapped around, landing on Todoroki, who was already looking right at her. She smiled the same way she had before the first game, the look on her face slightly deranged.
It was revealed that first place was worth ten million points, and every single student there immediately looked to Midoriya, who, frankly, seemed like he was going to pass out.
Being in fourth, Mikutori was worth 195 points, Todoroki worth 205. They, along with at least two other people, would rank high, and would be a big target. But, if they used the right strategy, and had the right people, they could make it.
They were told all of the rules, and were given fifteen minutes to make up teams. Mikutori practically stomped over to Todoroki, pushing past other students, barely hearing the cries of anger and annoyance following. She didn't care, she knew the boy would be swamped immediately, everyone would want to be on either his or Bakugo's team.
She made it up to him, pushing others out of the way. Mikutori said nothing, holding out her right hand to Todoroki for him to shake. They stared at each other for a few seconds, the few other students around him waiting for his answer.
He reached out his hand, grasping Mikutori's comfortably, a shock of electricity passing between them. She, again, was surprised at how much she enjoyed the texture of his cold palm.
So the team was made, and she wasn't upset at the choices, but as she looked at the electric-blonde across from her, he gulped visibly, his face a bit scared. She forgot that he was probably still a bit terrified of her.
She said nothing, and didn't change her facial expression, walking up to him, putting her hand out to shake. It was a promise, a promise that they would work together for this event. Kaminari looked down at her hand terrified, before looking nervously at both Iida, who nodded once, and Todoroki, who did nothing. After that, Kaminari looked back at Mikutori's hand, flickering between it and her face, before swallowing and grasping it in his own.
They shook for only a second, before Mikutori pulled her hand back to her side, turning to Todoroki.
"So, what's the strategy?" She asked, hands on her hips. They gathered closer in a circle, immediately talking about how each member's quirk could be used as an advantage to win.
"I chose the three of you because I believe we'll make for the most stable formation possible," Todoroki started. "Kaminari's our left wing, he can use his quirk to keep enemies at bay. Kumosora, you'll take the right wing, focus on recon and defense, especially for the headbands. Iida, you'll take the front, we'll rely on you for mobility and physical defense."
"And you'll be attacking and creating diversions of ice and fire, is that right?" Iida asked, the two boys looking at each other with stern expressions.
"Not quite," the rider of their team said. "When I'm in battle, I never use my left side."
Mikutori blinked at him, looking where his face was pointed. She immediately spotted Endeavor, his stern glare staring down at them. She could feel the judgment from here. He was unmistakable, large body and constant flames, his bright turquoise stare and crossed arms rained down on them, and Mikutori swore she could feel his glare on her. She glared right back at him before reaching up a hand to fix her feathers, making them lay to the right side of her head again.
That must be why he doesn't use his fire, she thought. And also why he covers his left side in ice when in his hero costume. He must hate his father. If the rumors are true, then I bet he has good reason to resent him.
They talked strategy until the last possible second, before the time was up and they needed to gather up along the side of the red rectangular ring.
