"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Aizawa asked, all of his students standing in front of him at the train station. Mikutori held hers in front of her thighs, sunglasses pushed on top of her head. She would be taking the same train as Todoroki and a few others, their agencies in cities near each other. Mikutori was not going very far, but it was still required by both Aizawa and the school that she take the train instead of going by foot.
She would be picked up by her uncle at the station anyways, for he was determined to pick her up from the train station to bring her to his agency, which was in Mito, a city close to Tokyo.
"Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public yet, and don't lose them or anything," Aizawa drawled, Ashido bursting out informally. He quickly corrected her and sent the students on their way.
Mikutori walked alongside Todoroki, the two of them sitting next to each other in silence on the train. The few other students joining them spoke excitedly to each other, but both Mikutori and Todoroki stayed silent, both of them occasionally glancing at the other. Any time they did it at the same time though, they would both immediately look away, and for some reason, Mikutori's ears would flush pink.
"You don't seem to be afraid of me like everyone else," Mikutori said, eyes trained forward.
"Nothing to be afraid of," he returned, glancing down at her. She barked out a short laugh, causing a questioning look to pass over Todoroki's face as she looked up at him.
"Until you get touched by a feather, then there will be plenty to be afraid of," Mikutori sounded like she was talking solely from experience, and Todoroki's mouth dipped lower into a frown. Mikutori looked back to the front of the train, brushing a hand through her thick feathers.
It was a long train to their destinations, Mikutori being one of the first of her classmates to leave. She left with one last glance at Todoroki, who was already staring back at her.
Mikutori left the train, looking around for her tall uncle.
"Mikutori!" She heard a familiar voice say, it was her uncle, Kukotori. She immediately found him at the shout, accompanied with a tall wave, and made her way over to him.
"Hey," she said, and the older man hugged her. She flushed a bit before pushing back. "Jeez, uncle, not in public."
Kukotori only laughed, leading her down the street to the agency, one of his laughs turning into a cough midway through. It was only a few blocks from the train station, and Kukotori knew better than to try and get his niece to take a car. That would never happen, as far as Mikutori was concerned. She could try to tolerate the trains and the buses, but cars were completely off of the table.
And they had been for the past two years. Mikutori walked to school afterwards, and even walked every day to U.A. She had done it in the snow, and would continue to.
They arrived to the Avian Brothers Hero Agency quickly, the receptionist greeting both Mikutori and the owner of the agency. Kukotori led her to his office, Mikutori glancing to the side, seeing her father's old office next door. The name placard next to the door still read his name:
Haiirotori Kumosora
The Avian Hero: Thunderbird.
Mikutori was surprised her uncle had never taken it down.
"So, Mikutori," Blackbird said, he was very informal for such a deep voice. Mikutori sat in a comfy chair as her uncle leaned against the front of his desk. "I wanted to talk to you a bit before we start with patrolling or training."
"Okay. What about?"
"Well, since your father died, I've been running this place alone, and it's been difficult," Kukotori said, jumping right into what he was trying to ask, clearing his throat into his elbow. "After some experience, of course, I would like to extend the offer of co-ownership to you."
