"We can protect them," Todoroki declared confidently, Mikutori pulling off yet another two feathers from her head. The headache at the back of her skull was raging by now, but it wasn't something she could be concerned with at the moment. She would be surprised if she wasn't bald by the end of the night.
She couldn't imagine sitting out the rest of the week, waiting for all of her feathers to return over the following three days.
"Three against one, huh?" Stain crouched down into a fighting position. "This fight won't be easy."
And it wasn't. Midoriya was bouncing off of the walls, electricity marking his trail as he moved with a speed Mikutori had never seen from him before. Something had changed in him in just the past two days, it seemed.
And Todoroki was fighting too, sending out billowing flames and large spikes of ice. Mikutori was still standing in her same position, staring at the two boys near her. While she had seen what they could do at the Sports Festival, this was something vastly different.
They were there, protecting real people in real danger, their friends. Mikutori was determined to do the same. But she knew when she wouldn't be of much help. Her feathers would be burned to a crisp easily by Todoroki's flame, and was in no state to physically fight anyone, the smoke doing a number on her lungs.
She didn't even realize that her chest had been hurting, and it was harder to pull in the air around her. That, along with the pain from her hand, which was beginning to go numb, Mikutori could not fight the way she wanted to, and wasn't about to die by pushing herself when she wasn't alone.
She stepped back, standing in front of Native and Iida, and sent out the feathers, sending them high into the air as to avoid Todoroki's flames, sending them down like bombs onto the Hero Killer.
They followed like missiles as the man jumped about, Stain slicing Midoriya's leg and paralyzing him in place. Iida was urging them to run away, but neither Mikutori nor Todoroki were having any of it.
"You want to make your brother proud!" Todoroki was holding Stain off with another bat of flames. Iida was crying from behind them. "Then stand up, and be Ingenium!"
"I understand why you want revenge, okay? But going alone like this is just idiotic!" Mikutori yelled at him. She had seen the news, knew of what had happened to Iida's brother. It was most likely why Iida had come here to intern in the first place. Iida loved and idolized his brother, much in the same way Mikutori had her father. She could understand the want for justice, but, unlike Iida, Mikutori had no physical way of attaining it.
They were going back and forth, Todoroki sending out attack after attack as Midoriya made call outs to where Stain was headed. Mikutori's feathers were zipping about like heat-seeking missiles, but Stain always saw them coming and batted them away with knives or jumped out of the way before they could touch him.
Stain was sprinting right at Todoroki, a long, damaged sword aimed for under his extended arm.
"Todoroki!" Both Midoriya and Mikutori yelled at the same time, Mikutori running at them. Iida was faster, though, having finally been released of the hold of Stain's quirk, sending a kick and breaking the sword in two before it could slice Todoroki's arm off before hitting Stain and sending him skidding on his feet backwards.
"Todoroki, Midoriya, Kumosora, this has nothing to do with you, I apologize," Iida was bowed over, and Mikutori scoffed. It didn't matter that it didn't have anything to do with them directly, but it involved their friend and they would be damned if they didn't help him.
Did Mikutori have friends? Wow, she never would have thought she would actually have friends, even ones who actually liked her quirk, respected it.
