Getting to the hospital and being treated was nothing smaller than a large ordeal for Mikutori, fidgeting and resisting until the paramedics, and then doctors, convinced her to let them treat her.
It wasn't until next morning when Mikutori was brought to another hospital room, the one with her three male companions. Previously, she was being kept in a personal room, hooked up to an IV and oxygen. Unfortunately, for her, she was still strapped to the oxygen, tubing wrapped behind her ears, nose cannula in place, a small portable oxygen tank being dragged behind her as she entered the larger room.
The only empty bed was next to Iida, so she sat on it, looking up as her friends greeted her. She had darkening bags under her eyes, unable to sleep the night before. She had a hard time sleeping in hospitals to begin with.
She had a new white bandage wrapped around her hand, wrapped between her fingers, crawling up her forearm. Iida was in bandages and slings, Todoroki with a wrapped forearm, Midoriya the same with his opposite lower leg also bandaged.
To be short, they were all reckless teenagers with various injuries.
Like Midoriya was saying, it seemed like Stain had actually allowed the three of them to live, but Iida remained mostly intact even though the villain was genuinely trying to murder him.
Mikutori was a beat behind in turning to the door, the small, older hero, Gran Torino, and a younger, blue-clad hero entered. The latter seemed to be Iida's mentor for the week. Gran Torino started going off on Midoriya, but soon ceased and declared that the four of them had a visitor.
That must be the reason they moved Mikutori to the same room as the boys, as they were all probably about to be reprimanded and punished for their reckless actions. And Mikutori wasn't too far off, at that.
A large man walked in, clad in a fancy black suit, but with the head of a hound dog instead of one more human-like. "This is Hosu's Chief of Police," Gran Torino introduced. Mikutori and her classmates stood, Mikutori's tank of oxygen sitting in it's little traveling cart near her feet. She was in matching clothes with the boys; light blue tops and matching pants, with slippers to wear on her feet. She had kicked them off when she sat on the empty bed, though.
"So you're the U.A. students who brought down the Hero Killer, huh," the tall man stated, not at all like a question.
"We are," Todoroki confirmed. Mikutori wondered why such a high authority figure would come talk to a handful of teenage heroes-in-training after such a chaotic past day.
"Stain has some serious injuries." This conversation was becoming more serious and tense by the moment, and Mikutori leaned back on her hips, shifting her weight between each leg. "Severe burns and several broken bones, along with a deep laceration to the shoulder. Right now he's in the hospital under strict guard. Here's a lesson you should have already learned: when quirks became the norm, the police force fought to maintain the status quo, and decided we wouldn't use quirks as weapons.
"That's when heroes came in; they could do what we couldn't, if they were licensed, of course." Mikutori was beginning to see where this lecture was going, and she didn't like it. "It would be impossible for the police to condone the use of deadly quirks, after all, we're here to stop such harm from being done."
The police chief went on a bit more, explaining the strict code of ethics that allowed heroes to actually use their quirks. The following sentence solidified Mikutori's current theory as to why this dog-headed police Chief was here, talking to teenagers.
"That's why it's against the law for uncertified people to use their quirks to cause injury. Whether you were up against the Hero Killer or not, none of you have the authority to harm the villain." Mikutori and her classmates were frozen in space, baffled at what they were hearing. There was no way they could actually get punished for this...could they? "That means the four of you, and your supervisors, Endeavor, Manual, Gran Torino, and Blackbird, are sure to receive harsh punishment for this gross abuse of your powers."
