Mapi's POV:

The party was underway. I'm married. 

"Just a warning," Leila leaned over to me. "I'm gonna make a speech."

"Please don't."

"I'm doing." She started getting up.

"Please no. Leila, please sit back down."

"Can't hear you. I'm standing up." 

"If she makes a speech I'm making one." Virginia said.

"No." Mariana covered her face.

"Excuse me." Leila tapped the microphone. "Hi. Everyone over here." She waved. "Hi. Hello." I shook my head. "I'm Leila if you didn't know."

"LEILA!" Virginia cheered. 

Leila pointed at her and cleared her throat. "So yeah. I'm Leila. Mapi's teammate. Maid of honor. Best friend." She nodded. "First, Mapi and Mariana. I am so happy you two found each other. It's funny because in 2019 when Jenni and Alexia were having their whole mess of problems." Alexia groaned. "Sorry guys but it's true." Everyone laughed. "It was during the World Cup. Mapi and I were roommates and we'd talk about our future. What we wanted and whenever it came to talking about marriage, we both panicked. At that time I was 26 and Mapi was 24. After getting involved in an argument with Alexia and Jenni, Mapi turned to me and said "If that's what love is like I'm never doing it. I don't care if I meet the love of my life. Never happening." and what made it funny is that the night before, I had a dream. A dream where Mapi was engaged. But not to anyone, she was engaged to this Portuguese girl. Fast forward a few months after and we face Portugal in a final. And who does Mapi meet? Mariana." 

I looked over at my wife and grabbed her hand. 

"Mariana you didn't just change Mapi's life. You changed mine. You've been there for me in more ways than you know. Reminded me that when times are tough, to turn to those who love me the most. I'm happy to say that not only are you my best friend's wife, but you are now also my best friend too. To Mapi and Mariana. You two were always meant to be."

I raised my glass as Mariana stood up. "That was adorable." She hugged Leila. 

"Yeah, it was." Virginia nodded. "I'm gonna ruin it." She took the microphone from Leila and walked out. 

"Oh no." 

"Leila that was beautiful!" Virginia stood in front of everyone. "And then there's me. Mari. You're regretting this now aren't you?"

"I should've picked Alexia!" 

"Hmm." Alexia smirked. 

"I'm Virginia. Hi. Mariana and Mapi. Where should I begin? How about when Mapi wouldn't shut up about her in 2019? Yeah that's right Mari. She's been hooked since then too. Or! After they met and Mapi slid into her DMs, Mariana didn't answer and Mapi panicked. So Leila and I had to slide into the DMs as well. But there have been a lot of moments with just Mariana and I. We really became friends, sisters. Mariana's been calling me her sister a lot. I wish I could give you what you want, Mari. I wish I had the power to bring your brother here. I'm sorry I don't. However, when I was in Portugal with Mapi once. I got to talk with your brother. And while I can't physically have him here, I hope this makes you happy." She walked to the side and a video started to play.

"Tell me about your sister." Virginia said from behind the camera.

"Mariana." Gabriel smiled. "She is the best sister anyone could have. I'm so lucky I get to be her brother. There's no one better than her. Watching her grow up, become this big star, find Mapi? I'm so happy to be apart of her story."

"You approve of the relationship?"

"Of course." He laughed. "How could I not? You've seen them together."

"They're disgusting."

"Insanely disgusting!" He laughed. "I want that. I hope I find someone who loves me as much as Mapi loves my sister, yes." He must've cut her off. "They love each other. Even if they haven't said it yet, they love each other." He looked into the camera. "You hear that Mari? If you ever watch this, you guys love each other! You two are going to be so happy together. And even when you're not, you'll get through it because I've seen that type of love twice in my life. Mom and dad. And our grandparents. Mapi is your forever, and Mapi if you are watching this. Love and protect my sister. I'm passing the torch to you now."

"I'm saving that for their wedding day." Virginia turned the camera to her. 

"Yes! That's perfect. We'll have this big speech and then play this video."

The video ended and Mariana covered her mouth. 

"When you asked me to be your maid of honor, I had to say yes. For you and for him. I wish he was here, but I'm happy I saved that video."

Mariana got up and walked over to her. She hugged Virginia and cried. Virginia rubbed her back and I got up. 

"Put my speech to shame." Leila mumbled. 

"Are you crying?" Mariona asked her.

"What? No! You're crying." 

I walked over to Virginia and smiled.

"I love you." Virginia mumbled. "You hear me, Mari?" Mariana looked up at her. "Family. You and me. Understand?"

"Thank you." 

Mariana's POV:

After the tears dried, the party continued. I walked to the balcony and looked at the view. "Hey." I turned around. 

"Mariona." I smiled. "What's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you."

"Me?" She nodded. "Uh oh. What's going on?"

"You said that no one truly knows if they're ready. But you still said yes when Mapi asked. Why?"

"Because it felt right. No one's ready for the big moments, but with the right person, it just feels, right. I'm not ready to be a wife, Mapi isn't either. We might never be." I laughed. "But it's Mapi. We're going to figure it all out together. She made me feel like I could say yes and become engaged. Like I could stand up there today and say yes to forever. Because she is the right person for me."

She nodded and looked out at the sky. 

"Why do you ask?"

She took a deep breath and turned to me. "I want to marry Leila."
