No One Better

August 2027

Mariana's POV: 

"When will you know what you're having?" Virginia asked.

"We can find out the next appointment." Mapi smiled.

"Do you want to know?" I asked. "I kind of what it to be a surprise."

"I thought it'd be cool to know." Mapi shrugged. "We can be surprised though. We're going to love this kid no matter what anyway." 

"I can't believe you guys are having a baby." Vir smiled. 

"Bad?"

"No. I'm really happy." She laughed.

"You're going to be an aunt." Mapi said.

"I am." She nodded. "This kid is going to be so lucky. She or he has you two for parents, all those other idiots for aunts, and then me!"

"I regret this." Mapi looked down.

"I'm kidding." Vir said. "I have to go to meet Nahikari. Let me know about the appointment? I need to make sure my niece or nephew is perfect."

She said bye to us and left. "So I've been thinking." Mapi said.

"Uh oh. About what?" 

"My teammates are more like family to me than my own family. And I know you want Alexia to be the godmother but what if we did two godmothers? You and Vir are like sisters, I want her to a part of our first child." 

"First? Meaning there will be more?"

"The first one isn't even done cooking yet." She said. "I mean first as in, we're starting our family."

"What about your brother?"

"We don't talk much anyway." She shrugged. "I want to have two godmothers. This kid is going to be surrounded by strong female role models." 

"If that's what you want them I'm on board." I smiled.

Mapi's POV:

"Are you both ready?" The doctor asked. We nodded. "Ok." The baby appeared on the monitor. "We have a perfectly healthy baby,"

"Wait." Mariana said. "Are you sure you want to know?"

"If you want to wait, we'll wait." I smiled. 

"Now I kind of want to know." She whispered. 

"How about I tell one of you." The doctor laughed. "Who wants to know?" I raised my hand. "Alright."

When we were in the car, I held the envelope closely. "Tell me." Mariana pouted.

"No. You said you want to be surprised, and surprised you shall be." I turned onto our street.

"Give me a hint."

"It's a baby."

"You asshole." 

"Babe!" I laughed. "I know you, ok? Right now you want to know, but if I tell you, you will IMMEDIATELY be pissed that it's not a surprise."

"Aw how cute. You think you know. Tell me what the fuck I have in me." 

"Not with that attitude." I parked the car. She titled her head at me. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Just taking this time to look at you before I kill you." 

"You're extra violent."

"Just tell me."

"No." I said. I opened my door and got out, walking to the passenger side. I helped her out and looked at her. "If you REALLY want to know, I'll tell you. But I don't think you really want to know."
