Mariana's POV:
We got to Lisbon and went to my parents. "Big boy!" I picked up Gabriel as he walked toward me.
It was more of a waddle.
He's getting there.
"Look at you!" Mapi smiled as she took him.
"Mom!"
My mom walked into the living room. "You're home." She hugged me. "And Mapi's here!"
"I hope you don't mind. I tagged along."
"Mapi you know you're family." She looked back and forth at us.
"We have some news." Mapi said.
"Ahh. NEWS. André! Come down the girls have news!"
"NEWS!"
"Yeah!"
I laughed and grabbed Mapi's hand. We all sat in the living room together and my parents waited.
"So I know what Mapi was hiding." I smiled. "And let's just say I'm mad she waited as long as she did." I turned to her.
"I wanted your leg to be healed." She sighed.
"What happened Mari?"
"Mapi?"
"You both know what I wanted to do. There was a lot of complications getting to that point. But while on our trip I finally proposed to Mariana."
"And?" My dad got excited.
"Mapi." I smiled. "You're being serious?"
"I've never been more serious in my life. Mariana, I love you."
"María Pilar León Cebrián, it would make me the happiest person the world to marry you."
"Really?"
"Really."
"I said yes." I smiled. "Which means." I looked at Mapi. "I can finally do this." I reached into my shirt and pulled out the chain. Hanging on the chain was the engagement ring.
"Allow me." Mapi reached behind me and unhooked the chain and removed the ring. "It's like getting engaged all over again." She smiled and slipped the ring on my finger. "Still fits."
She laughed and put the ring on me. "We're engaged. When do you want to tell our friends?"
"Some of them knew I was planning to propose. I know the minute they see me they're going to ask if I did or not. I say we don't tell them till after the Olympics."
"I like the way you think." I smirked. "Keep this between us until we want them to know."
"They're gonna be mad."
"Let them. This is OUR moment."
After we told our parents, we had time at my house to ourselves.
"We're engaged." Mapi said.
"Regret it?"
"No. Just happy that you're my forever."
"Adorable." I laughed.
Mapi's POV:
Our short time in Lisbon ended. Getting to enjoy and finally share the news of our engagement with Mariana's family was amazing.
Then it occurred to me. Mariana has never been home with me.
"I'm going to see Tatiana real quick then we'll leave."
"Ok. Take your time." I smiled as she left.
I took my phone out and called my mom.
"María." She answered.
"I have some news."
"What?"
I told her about how Mariana and I have been together this whole time. She knew I had a new girlfriend, but not that our relationship has been this long.
"This is the longest relationship you've had."
"I know."
"Do you love her?"
"More than I've loved anyone." I smiled. "From the moment I met her I knew this was going to be different."
"Can we finally meet her? You've put this off long enough. I want to meet this girl, María."
"That's why I called. We just visited her parents, it was her brother's birthday so we went to his grave. We're leaving for Barcelona but we're gonna stop. Come see you and dad."
"We'll be waiting. I'm happy for you."
"Thanks."
I waited and Mariana finally came back.
"Ready to go?"
"Is it ok if we make one stop on the way to Barcelona?"
"Of course. Where are we stopping?"
I smiled and looked at her. "Home. I delayed it for too long. We're going to see my parents."
She nodded and grabbed my hand. "It's about time. Let's go!"
We got the stuff in the car and started the drive. "I already talked to my mom. She can't wait to meet you."
"I can't wait to meet her either. Why haven't you taken me to meet them before?"
"My previous relationships never really lasted that long. We'd do the whole meet the parents thing and then it'd end. With you, I didn't want anything to mess it up. I don't know I guess I thought that meeting my parents is where my relationships always went wrong. That if I took you to meet them, you'd break up with me or something."
"Never. You put a ring on it. You're stuck with me."
I laughed and looked out the window.
"Wait so that means your parents met Alba?"
I closed my eyes. "Yes but no. They came to Barcelona for a game and she was there."
"When will I get to officially meet Alexia's wonderful sister?"
"Considering she had a part to play in planning our engagement because Alexia tells her everything? Soon."
Mariana laughed and kept driving. "Good."
"What are you gonna do?"
"Don't worry about it."
"No, see now I'm worried about it!"
