Night had already fallen by the time Satomi returned to the inn, she'd taken a long time to calm down, and when she finally did the shapeshifter granted herself a few hours of just her own company. Usually she was alone most of the time, and having someone else around was strange for her. She'd spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on in the town, as well as what kind of explanation she'd eventually have to give Laxus. A few hours of peace without having to fight the pull towards the other mage was also a treat. The sensation which was impossible to ignore, returned the second her feet had met with the cold roof tiles of the inn. She'd been in no mood to pass through the crowded lounge which doubled as a bar, and opted to use the window instead. At the same time she also noticed that the light was still lit in Laxus' room and she hoped that he hadn't heard her as she made her way inside.
The crowd on the first floor was making a drunken ruccus and the mage quickly set up a spell to silence the noice for her own comfort. After changing into a more comfortable outfit she settled down to read the book she'd brought with her. It seemed like the mage in the other room hadn't heard her return, or knew better than to come knocking immideately. Some fresh air and time to clear her head for a bit finally made her able to focus on the plot of her book. The last few weeks had been crazy and she had barely gotten any reading done at all. It was one of the really mundane things she enjoyed doing, the simplisity of sitting down with a book and escaping her wretched reality.
Life really was cruel, she had such a dark and depressing existence which forced her into a life of solitude. In addition Laxus was right there, bound to her by an undeniable bond. Everything about him called out to her, his scent, his looks, his strength, his person... Even when he pissed her off and stepped out of line she couldn't stop herself from being charmed by him. It was like he'd been placed in her life simply to taunt her with the happiness she could never have. The thougths of him wormed their way back into her concience as she read, and she was too tired to push them back out. Eventually she fell asleep with the book still in hand.
The first portion of the night Satomi's sleep was dreamless as she fell into a deep heavy sleep. Her body jerked slightly as an image suddenly flashed through her mind, there was a woman sleeping on a bed, her face was calm and peaceful. A pale hand reached out to touch her cheek, a confused feeling passed Satomi as she watched, she'd never observed herself in a sleeping state. This was new, she hadn't dreamt something new for years, and it worried her. A familiar feeling crept through her as she watched the hand fall from her face. The image changed as if the person had changed location. Confusion lazed her mind as a new room came into view, something about the height of the image was strange, it was too close to the floor.
Horror flashed through her mind as a familiar blonde came into view, she immideately knew this was bad, and began to thrash around in her dream. He was sleeping too, the contours of his face were a lot softer than usual. His hair was more unshelved due to him shifting about in his sleep, and his chest moved slowly as he breathed. Satomi struggled desperately, trying to free herself of the dream, fearing that it was like every other dream she had, a real memory. The individual she was seeing through moved onto the bed silently and Satomi growled hoping it could serve as a warning. A knife appeared in the same pale hand that had cupped her cheek earlier, moving towards Laxus' face. With a tremendous force Satomi managed to tear herself from the dream, her eyes darting open. She was in the next room in an instant, her spear already in hand. A small dark figure crouched over her mate and she lunged for it without a moment of hesitation, hissing furiously. With a swift and surprisingly elegant movement the person dodged the spear just barely by jumping back from the bed. The metal of her blade sang as it cut the air just inches from Laxus' face. The sound, and feeling the mattress moving made the man wake with a start and shout.
