It was the fourth day of the games, Satomi had snuck back into her room at dawn. She'd slept outside, in the forest last night. For some reason she had been unable to settle down at the inn, which wasn't anything new in particular, her sleep was always haunted by nightmares. Even so the open sky always felt more welcome and safe to her. Despite the fact that her human form was the one she preferred the most, she was just as comfortable living as any other creature. It made sleeping outside an ease, with no need for extra utilities to make her  comfortable.

The room still didn't feel welcoming as she returned, a feeling of emptiness washing over her as the minutes passed. Instead of pacing restlessly around forever she quickly decided to take a shower before settling at the bar downstairs. It was to early for anyone else to be up, except from the inn's employees who scurried about doing the morning chores and preparing breakfast for her and her rowdy guildmates. The background noises they offered as she sat at a lonely table at the very back of the room, helped ease her restlessness. She wondered about her inability to settle down as she opened the book she'd brought hoping it would offer her a distraction. For about an hour she continued to read, flipping the pages slowly, but still found herself only half paying attention to the story. She had a tight feeling in her chest, her heart beating slightly faster than usual. She didn't like it. Perhaps accompanying the others here hadn't been a good idea after all? She'd never liked staying in the larger cities over time, the overcrowded area made her uneasy and stressed.

Satomi realized she'd been staring blankly at the same page for a good ten minutes and slammed the book shut with a frustrated growl. Perhaps master would let her join in on the games today if she pushed him one last time? Blowing off some steam would do her good. She put the book on the table in front of her thanking a waitor as he came over with a coffee she'd requested a few minutes before. She leaned forward, placing both her elbows rudely on the table and was about to pick up the cup, when a door on the second floor opened, after a brief moment the persons scent and footsteps reached her. Another irritated growl emerged as the gray haired mage realized why she couldn't settle down. She hid her face tired in her hands shaking her head in exasperation. Of course... It just had to do with that stupid mating bond... She thought to herself as her mate came down the stairs. She didn't look up to greet him, but he came over anyway, sitting down opposite from her.

"Morning" Satomi sat back as Laxus greeted her, her response wasn't anywhere near polite enough, just a rough grumble.

"Couldn't sleep?" The humor in his voice only frustrated her more, but as she finally looked at him properly she saw that he also had very slight traces of sleep deprivation. She wanted to snort at him, and smile. But as she looked at him she realized that she hadn't been careful enough. It would be so easy for them to become close if she wasn't alert. She crossed her arms over her chest in a resigned manner.

"I slept fine, and you?" Her tone was cold as she stared at the blonde in front of her, but he didn't let her tone affect him. Laxus smirked at her knowingly also leaning back in his chair, settling down and making it clear he was planning on staying through breakfast.

"About as well as you, I recon" Satomi loathed the tug he'd caused in her gut with his obviously suggestive words, but he still wasn't affected by the glare she sent him. She shook her head defiantly and took a sip of her coffee. Laxus kept watching her as she put the cup back down, she didn't reply to his statement, and wouldn't look at him.

As their brief exchange of words came to a halt Laxus took to studying the woman instead. Her hair was slightly damp, resulting in it appearing more untidy than it used to be, and it had also taken on a more wavy texture than normal. He could spot the scar on her neck, identical to his own. He wanted to ask about it, but judging from her mood, now wasn't a good time. He wondered if it had anything to do with their mating bond, but had never heard of a bond which included any visible marks before the actual mating had been mutually accepted. She continued to drink her coffee and then picked her book back up, seemingly indifferent to him. Laxus observed her hands as she cradled the book gently in her grasp, her fingers were long, slender and tan. A black leather braclet rested on her wrist, adorned with braid of silver. His eyes travled down her arm, pale, barely visible scars from previous injuries covered her forearms. With a quick movement she'd flipped to the next page in her book. Laxus placed an elbow on the armrest of his chair, using his hand to support his chin.

The guild mark on Satomi's collarbone was half covered by the white cotton chemise she wore under her corset. It had laced edgings that reached over her shoulders, creating a lovely v-outline. Her pendant rested neatly on her bare chest. She wore black tight pants as usual, and high heeled leather boots. Her corset was made out of an exqusite purple silk brocade, the upper edge was embellished with black lace. Satomi pursed her lips in concentration, trying to seem focused on the plot of the book she was reading, hoping that Laxus would eventually grow bored and leave if she didn't offer him any attention. Laxus on the other hand was taking the opportunity to try and observe as much as he could. His gaze fell to the book she was reading, he tilted his head slightly to the side trying to read the title, but was unable to since her hand covered part of the title. He wasn't much of a bookworm himself, but it wasn't the first time he'd seen her reading.

"So what's it about? The book?" Satomi flipped another page she hadn't been able to focus on reading, forcing her features into neutrality.

"Murder" She replied in a cold tone as she started to consider if the murderer in her book actually had the right idea after all. She shot him a narroweyed sideglance, Laxus only laughed at her comment. The sound was deep, lovely and alluring. Her frustration only grew as she felt her cheeks warm up at the sound. Which in return made Laxus stop laughing as he saw the girl in front of him blush, it was the sweetest thing he'd ever seen. That was definetly a look he never thought she was even capable of, and it was amazing. Satomi turned back to her book stubbornly refusing to accept the feelings rushing inside her. Laxus stared at the flustered woman in front of him still smiling at her comment. Another door opened on the second floor, Satomi closed her book and stood in th exact same moment and stepped around the table, planning on leaving the blonde there. Laxus stood just before she was about to pass his chair, blocking her way. The grayhaired mage glared at him.

"You know I can overpower you in less than a second right?" The words came through gritted teeth, Laxus knew he'd probably annoyed her to much, but he was too amused to back off. He smirked as he thought back at the second time they'd met, when she'd pinned him to the floor, claws at his throat before he realized it had even happened.

"I'd like to see you try" He still challenged leaning over her causing her to take a new step back to create some distance. Laxus closed it again with one small step, she was about to say something, but as Fried came downstairs his footsteps chaught the attention of both. Laxus turned halfway to greet his friend, the instant he did a small gush of wind brushed past him and Satomi's presence disappeared.

"Who are you talking to Laxus?" The blonde turned back to see that indeed his mate had disappeared into thin air, he sighed disappointed and sat back down.

"No one, good morning Freed."

Satomi looked back down at the city from her spot on one of the clocktowers, her gaze landed on  the arena high up on a giant boulder. A heavy sigh escaped her as she pondered. After a moment she turned and looked down at the bag on the ground beside her. She couldn't stay here, it was no good. She wanted to continue to show her support for the rest of the guild, but she also needed to search for a way to deal with her father. If that was even possible. Her strength now was not enough, which was a problem she hadn't faced before. Something odd was going on in this city, but most likely it was nothing her comrades couldn't handle. Guilt gnawed at her for her desicion, she knew that despite her arguments, what this really was about was Laxus. She couldn't endure this struggle any longer, and the only thing that seemed to be helping was distance. The games had already started for the day, the cheering crowd could easily be heard through the entire city. Noone would discover that she'd gone untill nightfall, by then she would be to far away to follow.

After a moment Satomi crouched down and opened her bag, retrieving a small item which she placed on the ground. Picking up the bag as she stood back up, she jumped onto the ledge of the fence surrounding the lookout of the tower and jumped, shifting midair taking the shape of an eagle, holding onto her bag with her talons and headed out of town.
