Satomi's POV

Throbbing agony filled every piece of her body as a slow sense of consciousness began to spread. The air was eerily quiet, as if the world had stopped breathing.

There were no birds, no wind. Not so much as a whisper of life, leaving only a sense of quiet dread. Her head pounded, and a soft groan left her as she attempted to move. Opening her eyes, or rather, struggled to, only led her to stare at a spinning ceiling. Nausea caught hold, and she relinquished any effort in trying to move, her eyes slid shut as she again surrendered to unconsciousness.

She'd no inkling of how long she'd been down, or how many times unconsciousness had claimed her. All she knew was - everything hurt. And, she'd been moved. Which meant the world hadn't ended at least.

Now, there were words. People talking in the space around her. Sounding far away at times, closer at others. Also, a familiar scent and breath. One that'd yielded her some relief in her quiet agony.

Her memory didn't serve much usefulness. She'd been with Laxus, the seal had opened to her, and then darkness.

At least the pain was fading between each waking, and now, breathing came easier.

By the time she felt well enough to open her eyes again, birds had returned to singing. Days had likely passed.

The sound of her groan seemed foreign now, where only breath and distant talking had been before. The room seemed too bright, the light causing viscious burning in her eyes. Moving was easier, despite feeling like death clung to her every pore.

"Shh" The unexpected sound startled her almost as much as the following touch, and despite her sore throat, she found herself yelping as a set of tingles ruptured through her, eyes now shooting wide.

Magic flared through and out of her and slammed against the walls of the room, making the entire structure shudder.

Her heart raced wildly in her chest as she now found herself sitting upright, every ache expelled from her as her magic wiped it clean.

Flashes of a battle raced in her head making her groan again. Her hand moved to her face, feeling as if the pounding in her head was truly threatening to make her skull burst.

"... Suppose that was my fault." Her stare snapped towards the sound, the sudden movement sending lashings from her neck up to her head and for a moment the pain blinded her. Until her vision slowly cleared, and her eyes met with Laxus's.

Satomi blinked slowly, bewildered at finding him on the floor, chair toppled over beside him. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of his bandages. Silence lingered inside her as he held her stare. Satomi couldn't look away. Couldn't blink, terrified that he'd evaporise into thin air if she did.

Eventually, it was Laxus that let out a soft laugh, breaking their stare and he winced while moving to get off the floor. Satomi watched him, at a loss for words. His movements were stiff and strained as he bent to set the chair back upright.

Running steps approached from somewhere farther away, and Satomi finally remembered to breathe as he looked at her again, moving to settle back into the seat.

"Morning, dearest." Tears flowed from Satomi's eyes at the sound of his voice, the sight of that loopsided smirk.

Alive. He was alive.

The door burst open with a bang, and Satomi's head snapped in the direction of the sound, fangs bared in a threatening snarl. Only to spot a slim, pale skinned woman, her chest heaving from the run. Wide blue eyes peered back at her, the woman's face framed by delicate, short, white locs.
