Their journey back to the guild still took a few days, even when Satomi suggested she could teleport them part of the way. She didn't press into the issue further when Laxus's response was rather unenthusiastic.
Once they arrived at the guild hall it was already late at night, the sun having long since dissappeared from the sky. As soon at they stepped through the large double doors, Satomi was efficiently tackled by Lisanna. The rather drunk female mage immediately demanding gossip and wailing of how worried she'd been.
Satomi was on her way to teleporting them out of the guild when a heavy arm draped over her shoulder, a close to intoxicatingly lovely masculine scent flaring in her nostrils.
"I believe I still owe you a beer. Don't run off right off the bat will you?" Satomi tensed at Laxus's proximity, her heart jerking in her chest. Lisanna's expression was anything but discreet, a near screech leaving her lips in glee.
"That's-"
"One beer" Laxus didn't let her argue, and quickly proved to have no trouble hauling both Satomi and Lisanna over to a vacant table. Lisanna mercifully knew her visiting hours and slipped away without making any further fuzz. Leaving Satomi alone with the blonde dragonslayer. A situation she still wasn't sure if she should dread or relish.
Well... One beer. She'd done that before too. Years back. But that time Laxus and her were barely on speaking terms, and he wasn't aware what she was. Now... She wasn't sure wether or not there was a hidden agenda.
"I mean... We did do this not too long ag-"
"No... That wasn't really you. I'm not settling for a projection of you" Satomi tried her best and utterly failed at ignoring the suggestive undertone of his voice. Swallowing tensly to compensate for her suddenly dry mouth.
"A beer doesn't sound that bad" Laxus smirked at her pleased as she settled to make herself more comfortable in her seat opposite of him. He sat back in his own seat, resting his muscled arm ontop of the back of the bench.
"Perfect" Satomi's eyes narrowed slightly at his smug tone, taking note of how his attitude was slowly growing bolder, slowly and carefully testing how far he could push her limit. Satomi crossed her legs restlessly, sparing a sideways glance to the spot where Lisanna was now making an impressive effort at distracting the thunderlegion from coming over. A bit hesistantly perhaps, Satomi decided she appreciated her younger friend's effort.
"So what's your plan after this?" Satomi turned her attention back to Laxus instead, opting to indulge him now that she was already sat there. He eyed her sharply, his eyes glinting slightly.
"You sure you wanna hear the answer to that?" Satomi blushed fiercely her jaw clenching as he said that.
"Behave yourself or I'm leaving" Laxus barked a laugh.
"I'm joking" Satomi narrowed her eyes at him, crossing her arms sceptically.
"Not really though" Laxus smirked a bit, his eyebrows twitching in amusement.
"You want me to deny the fact that I'm attracted to you?" Satomi's heart stumbled a bit and she cleared her throat nervously. What was she supposed to answer to such a question?
"... Maybe" Laxus's eyes glinted in humour and he chuckled. The sound alone was enough to send shivers down her back. Like sent from the heavens Mirajane brought over their beer with a bright smile.
"Welcome back you two. I hope everything's allright with you now? Everyone's been worried" Satomi smiled sheepishly at the other s-classmage, nodding her head.
"Yes. Though it wasn't my intention to make anyone worry" Mirajane smiled plesantly at her and nodded.
"It couldn't be helped, this is Fairy Tail after all" Satomi sighed a bit and drank from her beer.
