Despite not wanting to go to the banquet, Satomi still wound up sitting huddled in her room two days in advance, working desperately to try and finish the new dress she'd been making for herself. Her sewing skills were exquisite, but handstitching an entire dress in two days was still a lot to ask. She did somehow manage to finish it on time and was now smiling at her reflection in the mirror. She'd even had time to do some simple embroideries on the bust. The fabric was made out of an expensive, red, woolen fabric, that had just the right movement to it. It had a full length skirt with a delicate split along the thigh. The back was open, with a thin thread of lace holding it toghether. The embroideries on the bust was done in gold and silver thread, accompanied by small white beads at the centre of the flower motives she'd chosen to decorate it with. The embroidery began at the left side of the waist seam, snaking it's way across her abdomen, along the neckline of her right shoulder and ended at the top of her shoulder.
Satomi praised herself lucky that she had all her belongings stored in a magical pocket space, giving her the opportunity to use her favorite pair of black stilettos. She'd organised her hair in a neat half up, half down hairstyle. She'd spent a surprising amount of time to get it right, the hair she'd pulled up was put into a large bun at the back of her head, and she'd carefully taken the time to curl the remainder of her hair that fell loosely down her back. Her hair rarely wanted to play friends with her, and she usually resorted to just put it in a pony tail or big braid. This time however she'd been impressed by her own patience, with a lot of struggling her hair had finally submitted to her. Satomi kept telling herself that this banquet wasn't a big deal to her, and that she didn't even want to go. Still she felt like her entrie body was tingling with anticipation and she scolded herself mentally for getting excited about it.
The party had already started, Satomi could hear the music playing. Somehow she'd managed to keep herself composed the entire walk down to the ballroom, but now that she was approaching the doors her heart began sprinting again. She ignored it as the servants opened the doors for her. Everyone else had probably already arrived, she'd be the only one appearing this late. She regretted putting it off for so long. Why had she refused Lisanna's offer to get ready along with her and the other girls? The black stilettoes she wore seemed to make the loudest noise in the world, except from her heartbeat as she walked through the doors. Big crowds and social settings had never been her thing. Most of her life she'd always been alone. Even normal conversation with people she was comfortable around sometimes felt awkward.
It only took a heartbeat to locate the blonde dragonslayer, their eyes meeting the second he came into view. Satomi hated how her eyes had been drawn in that direction immideately as she entered the room. He stood with his usual friends to the left side of the room, Satomi noted the swarm of women surrounding him, all more or less hanging off of him. Laxus didn't even notice them as he watched Satomi. And her features revealed nothing about what she thought of it. The two stared eachother down, both equally awestruck by the other. Satomi didn't notice she'd stopped walking.
Laxus was dressed in a white coat, embellished with yellow ribbons along the edges. The yoke was made in a different fabric and was yellow instead of white, the same fabric also continued down the over arm of the coat as a design feature. Underneath the coat he had a nicely fitted purple vest, with black ribbons reaching over his chest, functioning as both closure as well as decoration. Satomi grew a bit self conscious when she realized he was admiring her as well, taking in the red fabric of her dress, and how it perfectly fit her body. The embroideries on the bust sparkled in the light, as well as pulling attention to the deep neckline. Compared to many of the other girls present, the skirt of her dress was less full and more closely fitted with a neat slit reaching up her thigh to allow more mobility.
Their ongoing staring contest got interrupted by the sound of a single pair of quick footsteps finally breaking through to Satomi's mind. The gray haired mage got yanked back to reality just in the nick of time as Lisanna threw herself at her.
