Mermaid ~Prompto~ *FLUFF*

~Prompto's pov~

We had taken up camp for the night near Caem, I couldn't sleep because of Gladio's loud ass snoring, so I walked out of the tent. I stretched and sat in one of the chairs. I was flipping through my photo's when I heard a woman singing softly. 'Huh? Who else is out here?' I got up, slid on my boots and looked around while standing on the edge of the haven. I saw a woman near the dock in the water. I walked up to her, her back was to me and she was humming to herself. I cocked my head, "y' know...it's not safe to be swimming in the water so late at night" I spoke as she jumped and stared at me. 'Whoa...she's...gorgeous...' I stared into her e/c eyes, she was clearly scared, I took a step closer and she moved back. "I-I'm not gonna hurt you..." I spoke as she watched me sit on the edge of the dock. Her eyes landed on my camera and she stared at it. "What's that?" she asked as I looked at her in confusion. "You've never seen a camera before?" I arched an eyebrow and she shook her head, "I've never met a human before..." she spoke as she swam up to me. At this point, I was extremely confused. "Why don't you get out of the water so we can talk more. I'm Prompto by the way" I smiled at her as she returned the smile. "I'm Y/n...and I can't..." she spoke as she looked away. I didn't want to press her on the issue so I stood up, I removed my shirt, my boots, I placed them on the dock with my camera and dove into the water. "Then, I'll join you in the water" I spoke as she giggled.

"You're very brave Prompto" she spoke, "psh! Nah, I just wanna get to know you. Never met a woman who did a little night swimming before." I told her as she giggled again, "I swim every day...I'm gonna show you what I mean..." she grabbed my hand and placed it on her hip. I blushed, "it's okay..." she spoke as I looked at her, I ran my hand down and instead of feeling legs, I felt scales. Like fish scales. I looked at her in shock, she swam back and flicked her tail at me. "I'm a mermaid..." she told me as my eyes grew wide, "so that's why you couldn't get out" I spoke as she nodded. "That's cool!" I exclaimed as she giggled again. "Yo Prompto! Where'd you go?" I heard Noct yell out, I looked towards the haven and then looked at her. "I-I have to go" she spoke as she swam away but I grabbed her wrist. "Will I see you again?" I asked as she looked at me, "maybe...if you're out a sea one day...I'll be sure to visit" she gave me a kiss on the cheek and then dove under the water. I placed my fingers on my cheek where she kissed me, I heard footsteps on the dock. "What are you doing in the water?" Noct asked as I looked at him, "I-I thought I saw something in the water..." I said swimming to the dock and pulling myself out of the water. "Ignis is gonna be pissed if you get sick dude" he spoke as I chuckled, "well...it's just like that sometimes" I joked as he chuckled. We went back to the haven.

~A few weeks later~

I stared at the world that whizzed by, my three friends were talking about something, but my mind was on Y/n. Ever since meeting her, she's been on my mind. "You all right dude?" Noct spoke while tapping me on my shoulder making me jump. "Y-Yeah, why?" I looked at him, "because you're mind is off somewhere else" Ignis spoke sipping on his Ebony, "I'm just thinking, hey, when are we gonna go out to sea again Noct?" I asked him he shrugged. "I could go out to sea for some fishing...let's do it Iggy" he spoke as I grew a smile.

~Out at sea~

I sat on the boat, Noct was driving around when we hit a wave causing my camera to fly out of my hands. "My camera!" I screamed as he stopped the boat, then without thinking, I jumped into the water. I tried to get my camera but it was sinking faster than I was swimming and I was running out of air. Soon everything grew dark.

~Your pov~

I hummed to myself as I swam with some dolphins, I saw a camera sinking, I swam up to it, "odd..." I placed it around my neck like how Prompto had it, I looked up and I gasped. Prompto was sinking. "No!" I swam up to him and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. I broke through the surface of the water and looked at the boat with three people on it. I swam towards it, I placed him on the back of the boat and pulled myself onto it so I was now sitting on the boat with half my tail in the water. "Prompto!" I shook him, I placed my head on his chest, 'no, no!' I panted as I opened his mouth to check if his airway was clear, 'backed up with water!' I struggled to roll him onto his side, the three men helped me. Prompto coughed up the water and gasped for air. "M-My camera..." he whispered, we were silent, his three friends stared at me as I panted because I was worried. Prompto looked at me and his face softened. He crawled over to me since he was on all fours, "are you all right?" I asked him as he smiled and nodded. I felt the tears streamed down my face. "You can't do that! You have no clue what that would've done to me" I cried as I clung to his chest, he froze a little and wrapped his arms around me. "I'm sorry Y/n..." he whispered, "when the person a mermaid imprinted on dies...they die...I cannot lose you Prompto" I spoke as I looked at him, "y-you imprinted on me?" he asked as he wiped away the tears with his thumb. "You were the first human that wasn't scared of me..." I whispered as I placed my hand on his hand and stared into his blue eyes. "You were more than willing to get in the water with some strange woman just to get to know her..." I added as he chuckled and placed his forehead against mine.

"You've been on my mind since the first day I met you Y/n...I love you..." he spoke as I smiled, "ahem" someone cleared their throat, we looked at the three men I grew scared. I handed Prompto his camera and got back in the water. Hiding behind Prompto when I did. "Y/n's a mermaid..." he spoke, "Yeah, we saw" the big man spoke, "intriguing..." a man with glasses spoke as he pushed them up. "These are my friends Y/n..." Prompto spoke as I moved a little and they all looked at me, "oh! I'll be back!" I spoke as I smiled and dove under the water.

~Prompto's pov~

"Soo...how'd you two meet?" Noct asked sitting beside me, "remember when I said that I saw something in the water?" I looked at him and he chuckled, "you saw her..." he spoke as I nodded. After a few hours, she came back and swam up to us. "Here!" she handed Noct a silver chain necklace that had a pearl attached to it, "for someone special in your life" she spoke as he looked at it, "Luna..." he whispered, "for you big guy..." she handed Gladio a greatsword, "you look like the kind to use a great sword...it's special, forged and made by mermaids..." she told him as he examined it, "light as air, but packs a punch..." she smiled, "thank you" he spoke as he looked at the detail on the greatsword. "Here! Mermaid spices and herbs...the best you'll ever find" she handed a bag to Ignis who looked at her, "how did..." Ignis trailed off, "when I imprinted on Prompto, I had learned about all of you through his thoughts...it was a brief moment, but it was like I could see everything he's been through with all of you...I knew what you guys were like without you guys telling me" she explained as he stared at her. "Thank you Y/n...I'll be sure to put these to good use" Ignis spoke as she smiled, "you better let me try whatever you make please" she smiled as he smiled and nodded.

"What about me? What did you get me?" I asked her as she smiled and pulled herself up with her arms so her face was level with mine. "For you Prompto...I got you the best gift a person could ever ask for...a kiss from a mermaid" she spoke as I blushed and she placed a kiss upon my lips. I was in shock at first but then kissed back. Gladio and Noct all whooped behind me which caused me to flip them the bird. She pulled away and we stared at each other. "Now...you can breathe underwater" she whispered as I arched an eyebrow. She bit her lip and wrapped her arms around me. She pulled me into the water, she swam up to me and smiled. "Try it" she giggled as I began to breathe, "this is cool!" I exclaimed as she giggled and grabbed me by my jacket and kissed me again. I smiled and placed my hands on her hips. I returned the kiss as she wrapped her arms around me and tangled her fingers in my hair. "I love you Prompto..." she whispered as I smiled, "I love you too" I spoke as she smiled.
