Jimin’s body was drenched in sweat. His hand clutched his stomach tightly, his breathing ragged as he whimpered softly on the bed. The pain came in sharp, relentless waves, stabbing into him like needles. His small, almost imperceptible movements were enough to stir Jungkook from his sleep.
"Mochi, are you alright?" Jungkook's voice was thick with concern, immediately alert as he noticed Jimin curled up into a ball, his entire body trembling.
Jungkook quickly sat up on his knees, panic gripping him as he took in Jimin’s pale face, beads of sweat glistening on his forehead. Without hesitation, Jungkook gently scooped Jimin into his lap, cradling him carefully. His eyes scanned his brother’s face, searching for answers.
"Baby, what’s happening?" he asked, his voice barely concealing the fear that was rising within him.
"I... I'm okay..." Jimin whispered weakly, his words unconvincing as he fought through the pain.
"Okay? Baby, you're shaking. You're clearly not okay. We’re going to the hospital." Jungkook’s tone was firm, his mind already racing through the next steps.
"N-no..." Jimin’s hand weakly reached up, clutching at Jungkook’s shirt, his eyes pleading. "I took my medicine. I just want to rest... Stay with me, please."
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, his heart torn between doing what he knew was right and giving in to Jimin’s request. He gently laid Jimin back onto the bed, his hand never leaving his brother’s trembling body. Slowly, he began rubbing soft circles on Jimin’s back, hoping to soothe him.
"I’m okay..." Jimin whispered again, trying to reassure Jungkook. "As long as you’re here, I’m okay."
Jungkook let out a long sigh, still unconvinced but unwilling to push Jimin any further. He pulled him closer, enveloping him in a protective embrace. His heart ached to see Jimin in such a fragile state.
"Please," Jungkook whispered, his voice soft but full of emotion. "If anything gets worse, if the pain comes back, promise me you'll tell me. I need to know."
Jungkook knew his brother all too well. Jimin had always been the type to endure pain silently, to suffer through it without bothering anyone else. But Jungkook couldn’t stand the thought of Jimin going through this alone.
"I-I will, hyung... Don't worry," Jimin replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "I’ll tell you, I promise. Don’t worry, Kookie hyung."
"I have to worry," Jungkook said softly, pressing a kiss to Jimin’s damp forehead. "You are the love of my heart. I can't help but worry."
He held Jimin tighter, his arms wrapped around him like a shield. Every second with Jimin felt precious, like time they needed to reclaim after all the years they had spent apart.

The next morning, as Jimin descended the stairs, he spotted Jungkook sitting at the kitchen table, distracted by his phone. A mischievous smile spread across Jimin’s face. Tiptoeing carefully, he snuck up behind Jungkook, wrapping his arms around his brother's shoulders in a sudden embrace.
"Morning, Kookie hyung," Jimin whispered into his ear.
Jungkook chuckled softly, clearly delighted by the surprise. "Baby, what are you doing up so early?"
"This is my first day of work," Jimin replied with a playful grin. "I need to show you the qualities of a dedicated employee."
Jungkook, smiling at Jimin’s enthusiasm, pulled him onto his lap, looking deeply into his eyes. "How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of concern.
"I’m okay now," Jimin assured him, his face bright. "No more pain, no more discomfort. I’m ready to work."
Jungkook studied his face carefully, still wary. "If that pain comes back, I’m taking you straight to the hospital. No excuses."
"Yes, sir!" Jimin giggled, playfully saluting him. His laugh melted the worry in Jungkook’s chest, easing his mind. Jimin always had a way of making his heart race and his worries disappear all at once.
"So, Mr. Jeon," Jimin teased, shifting in Jungkook’s lap, "what’s on the agenda for today? What should your loyal assistant do?"
"Hmmm..." Jungkook pretended to think for a moment, before smirking. "How about this: you sit right here on my lap... hug me... kiss my cheeks, both sides... and maybe... my lips too."
Jimin raised an eyebrow, playing along. "And how long should I do that, Mr. Jeon?"
"Until I say stop," Jungkook replied with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"And after that?" Jimin asked, wrapping his arms around Jungkook’s neck and giving it a soft massage, feeling the tension melt away.
Jungkook leaned closer, his bunny-like grin turning teasing. "And then... I’ll take you to bed."
"Hyung!" Jimin giggled, lightly hitting Jungkook's shoulder, his face flushing pink.
Jungkook laughed, loving how easily he could fluster Jimin. But behind the playful banter, there was an unspoken promise: no matter what, they would always be there for each other. Through pain, through joy, through everything.
