"Hyung..." Jimin whispered, his voice soft, barely audible, but heavy with concern.
Jungkook didn’t respond. He gripped Jimin's wrist and pulled him out of the house, the weight of his emotions making every step feel heavier. He needed to get away—from the suffocating atmosphere, from the tension that gnawed at him. He couldn’t stay there anymore, not with Yumi’s presence haunting him, and certainly not with the sight of Jimin and Mingyu’s growing closeness. Every moment between them felt like a stab to his heart.
"Kookie, hyung, stop!" Jimin shouted, his voice desperate as Jungkook continued pulling him along, refusing to look back.
Jimin’s hand slipped from his grasp for a brief second before he managed to grab it again, tightening his hold. This time, he wouldn’t let go.
"Mochi..." Jungkook finally turned around, his voice breaking as he uttered the nickname.
That single word, filled with so much emotion, shattered what little control he had left. Jungkook’s tears flowed freely, his composure falling apart in front of the one person who had always been his strength.
"H-hyung..." Jimin stammered, his heart aching at the sight. Jungkook, who was always strong, always his rock, was crumbling, and it tore him apart to witness it.
"I can’t do this anymore," Jungkook cried, his voice thick with pain. "Mochi, I can’t... Please, c-come back to me."
Jungkook’s shoulders shook with sobs as he struggled to keep going. He had tried—tried to live up to the expectations everyone had placed on him. Tried to make things work with Yumi, tried to be the good son, the man his family wanted him to be. But his heart… his heart wasn’t in it. He couldn’t keep pretending to love someone when all his feelings were tied to Jimin. He was suffocating under the weight of it all.
Jimin stepped closer, his hand trembling as he cupped Jungkook’s tear-streaked face. His thumb gently brushed away the tears, but it couldn’t erase the pain behind them. Seeing his brother like this—so broken, so vulnerable—was more than he could bear.
Jungkook's eyes were filled with desperation as he looked into his brother's face. "Mochi, let’s just go. Let’s get out of here, far away from everything. We can run away from all of this."
Jimin’s heart ached at the suggestion. He wanted to say yes, to agree, to run away with Jungkook and leave all the pain behind. But reality weighed on him just as much.
"Hyung..." Jimin’s voice wavered as he tried to find the words. "I wish we could. I really do. But we can’t just think about ourselves. There’s mom and dad... Yumi…"
Jungkook’s face fell, disappointment and frustration flickering in his eyes. That wasn’t the answer he wanted. He needed Jimin to say yes, to be with him, to choose him over everything else. He couldn’t stand the thought of being apart from him any longer.
"Why can’t we be together?" Jungkook's voice broke, pleading. "Why do we have to listen to everyone else? Don’t you love me?"
Jimin’s heart clenched at the raw vulnerability in Jungkook’s words. How could he not love him? Jungkook was the first person he had ever truly loved, and he knew without a doubt he would be the last.
"I love you, Kookie," Jimin said softly, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. "You know I do."
The intensity of their emotions hung thick in the air between them. Jungkook’s gaze softened as he closed the distance between them, his arms wrapping tightly around Jimin’s waist, pulling him close.
"I miss you, Mochi," Jungkook whispered, his voice cracking with the weight of his emotions. "I miss you so much."
Jimin felt the warmth of Jungkook’s embrace, and his own tears finally spilled over as he buried his face in his brother’s chest. "I-I miss you too, hyung."
"God, I miss you..." Jungkook murmured, his grip tightening. He inhaled deeply, breathing in the familiar scent of Jimin—the soft floral fragrance he had always associated with him. It was intoxicating, comforting. This was the scent he missed, the presence he craved. He rested his head on Jimin’s shoulder, refusing to let go. This time, he wouldn’t let go. Not again.
Hand in hand, they walked in silence toward the garden—their childhood haven, a place filled with memories. Memories that once made them laugh, and now made them ache.
"Do you remember when you fell off the swing?" Jungkook asked, his lips curving into a small, teasing smile.
Jimin blushed, lightly pushing his hyung in embarrassment. "How could I forget? Dad was so mad when he saw my knee all scraped up. And you got grounded because of me."
Jungkook chuckled, the sound lightening the air between them. "Yeah, because of you, I was stuck inside for days."
"You were the one showing off!" Jimin retorted, a hint of playfulness returning to his voice.
"Showing off?" Jungkook raised an eyebrow, his smile widening.
"Yeah, you wanted to impress me," Jimin said with a smirk.
Jungkook laughed softly, shaking his head. "Maybe I did."
They both knew it was true. Jungkook had always wanted to impress Jimin, even back then. Everything he did was for him, though he never expected Jimin to follow him that day.
"You know me too well," Jungkook said, his voice warm.
Jungkook took Jimin’s hand again, leading him over to the old swing set. He gestured for Jimin to sit down, and as soon as he did, Jungkook moved behind him, gently pushing the swing. Jimin smiled, his heart feeling lighter as he swayed back and forth. In this moment, everything else seemed to fade away.
"Every moment with you... it’s the only time I feel at peace," Jungkook admitted quietly.
Jimin closed his eyes, his smile soft. "Me too, hyung. Me too."
After a few minutes, Jungkook stopped pushing the swing and walked around to stand in front of Jimin. He looked at him, his eyes filled with love and longing. Without a word, Jungkook leaned down and captured Jimin’s lips in a tender kiss. Jimin gasped, surprised, but soon melted into it, his arms wrapping around Jungkook’s neck as he kissed him back.
When they pulled apart, their foreheads rested against each other, their breaths mingling in the cool evening air.
"Stay with me, Mochi," Jungkook whispered, his voice filled with a hope he couldn’t let go of.
