Jimin had finally quit his job. It hadn’t been easy—leaving Kim's Hotel was a bigger challenge than he’d anticipated. Kim Mingyu, the CEO, had initially refused to accept Jimin's resignation. He argued, tried to convince Jimin to stay, but Jimin was firm in his decision. He wanted to be with Jungkook, to support his brother fully, and start this new chapter together. His mind was made up.
Today, they were cleaning and organizing their new home, a cozy apartment they had chosen together. Jimin had taken charge of the interior design, naturally gravitating towards a beachy theme, with soft blues and sandy tones that reminded him of the sea. He loved the ocean, and now their home reflected that love. Jungkook, of course, didn’t mind—he trusted Jimin’s taste and was happy to follow his lead.
Jimin was busy in the kitchen, carefully arranging dishes in the cabinets when, without warning, Jungkook’s arms slid around his waist from behind. Startled, Jimin let out a small yelp.
"Hyung!" Jimin exclaimed, twisting his head to look at Jungkook, who was laughing softly against his hair. Jungkook rested his chin on top of Jimin’s head, holding him close.
"You need to stop for a while. You’ve been working nonstop since we started. Aren’t you tired?" Jungkook asked, his voice full of concern.
It had been almost four hours since they began unpacking and cleaning, and while Jungkook had taken breaks here and there, Jimin hadn’t slowed down at all.
"Just a little more," Jimin mumbled, still focused on his task, but Jungkook wasn’t having it.
"But baby," Jungkook said, his tone shifting into a playful one, "how about our bedroom?"
Jimin turned around in his brother’s arms, his own arms now looped around Jungkook’s neck. "What about my bedroom?" he teased, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
Jungkook's hands gently rubbed Jimin’s waist as he raised an eyebrow. "Your bedroom?"
Jimin nodded, still smiling sweetly. "Yes, hyung will sleep in the living room. On the couch!"
Jimin’s contagious smile widened, making Jungkook chuckle. No one could resist Jimin's smile—least of all Jungkook. Even though Jimin was clearly teasing, the way his eyes sparkled made Jungkook feel lighter, like nothing else in the world mattered but this moment.
"So..." Jungkook bent down slightly and, in one swift motion, lifted Jimin off the ground, carrying him bridal-style. "I guess I’ll just have to make you sleep with me... on the couch!"
Jimin squealed, laughing as Jungkook carried him towards their bedroom. "Nooo, hyung!" he protested between giggles.
"Oh yes!" Jungkook said, grinning down at him. He gently laid Jimin on the bed and tried to keep him there, but Jimin was quick to try and escape, pushing against Jungkook’s chest.
"Where do you think you’re going?" Jungkook asked, pinning him down gently but firmly.
"The kitchen! I’m not finished yet," Jimin said, wriggling under Jungkook’s hold. "Hyung, let me go."
"Nope," Jungkook said with finality. He looked at Jimin with a seriousness that made Jimin pause. "You look pale, Mochi. You need to rest." His voice softened, laced with concern.
Jimin stopped struggling, his heart swelling at the care in Jungkook’s words. He loved how much his brother looked after him, and at that moment, he felt so deeply cherished. A soft smile curled Jimin’s lips as he raised a hand to Jungkook’s cheek, his fingers tenderly brushing against his skin.
"Hyung," Jimin whispered, his voice filled with emotion, "I’m so happy. Even if I were to die today, I’d be at peace. I’m happy."
Jungkook froze for a moment, his grip on Jimin tightening protectively. "Hey, don’t say that." His voice was low but firm, as if the very thought terrified him. "You’re not going anywhere. You can’t leave me. Ever."
Jungkook pulled Jimin closer, holding him against his chest. He rested his chin on top of Jimin’s head once more, feeling the steady rhythm of his breathing. No matter what the future held, he wouldn’t let anything take Jimin away from him. They had come too far for that.
"I love you, Kookie hyung," Jimin murmured softly, his voice barely above a whisper as he nuzzled into his brother’s embrace.
Jungkook responded by placing a tender kiss on Jimin’s fluffy hair, his lips lingering as if sealing a promise. "I love you too, Mochi."
For now, in this quiet moment, they were safe in each other’s arms, and that was all that mattered.
