"Jungkook entered the room and froze when he saw Jimin hastily packing his clothes into a suitcase. Confused, he walked over, gently grabbing Jimin’s hand to stop him.

"What are you doing?" Jungkook asked softly, trying to understand what was going on.

Jimin, without meeting his brother's eyes, pushed Jungkook’s hand away and continued pulling clothes from the closet. His movements were quick, almost frantic.

"Where do you want to go?" Jungkook pressed, his concern growing.

"I’m going to stay with Mingyu hyung," Jimin replied curtly.

Jungkook’s brows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean? Why do you want to stay with Mingyu?"

There was something off about Jimin's tone, something Jungkook couldn’t quite grasp

There was something off about Jimin's tone, something Jungkook couldn’t quite grasp.

Jimin stopped for a moment, finally turning to look at Jungkook. His eyes were filled with hurt. "Where were you, hyung? Where are you coming back from?"

Jungkook swallowed hard. The weight of those questions hit him like a punch to the gut. Jimin knew something. He could feel it.

"I... I had work. Outside. I’m sorry I couldn’t take you to dinner like I promised," Jungkook stammered, hoping that answer would suffice.

But Jimin’s face fell. His heart ached at the blatant lie. He couldn’t believe his brother was still trying to cover the truth.

"Do you really have to lie to me?" Jimin asked, his voice trembling with emotion.

"I’m not lying—" Jungkook started, but Jimin cut him off sharply.

"How’s Yumi noona?" Jimin asked, his eyes locking onto Jungkook’s.

Jungkook's eyes widened. His heart began to race. "What are you talking about?"

Jimin didn’t answer right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and showed Jungkook a picture—the one he had received days ago. It was a photo of Jungkook and Yumi, kissing.

Jungkook stared at the image in shock, the color draining from his face. He had no idea how Jimin got the picture, but there it was—proof of his betrayal.

He couldn’t bring himself to look at Jimin. Shame washed over him, and his head hung low, his hands trembling.

"I... I can explain. It’s not what it looks like, I swear," Jungkook began, his voice shaky.

"I don’t need your explanation, hyung," Jimin interrupted, his voice calm but filled with pain. "I don’t want to hear it."

Jungkook could hear the heartbreak in Jimin’s words. His younger brother was devastated, and Jungkook hated himself for causing this. He hated how deeply he had hurt the person who meant the most to him.

"Mochi, please... I’m sorry. I—I don’t know what to do. This is all so hard," Jungkook pleaded, desperate to fix the mess he had created.

Jimin’s lips trembled as he forced a smile, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. "I know it’s hard. That’s why... I’m letting you go."

Jungkook’s breath caught in his throat. He wasn’t expecting that. He didn’t want that.

"No... Jimin, please—" Jungkook started, but Jimin gently placed his hand on Jungkook’s cheek, silencing him. He stroked his brother’s face, his touch soft and affectionate.

"I don’t want you to have to choose," Jimin whispered, his voice cracking. "I couldn’t bear it if you chose her over me. I can’t... I can’t handle that."

Tears began to spill from Jimin’s eyes, despite his effort to stay strong. Jungkook’s own eyes welled up with tears. The sight of Jimin breaking like this was unbearable.

"Mochi..." Jungkook’s voice broke.

"It’s okay, hyung," Jimin whispered, still caressing his brother’s cheek. "I’m okay. I’m doing this not because of Yumi... but because of you. I know how hard this is for you, and I don’t want to make it worse."

"I’m so sorry," Jungkook cried, the guilt eating him alive.

"Don’t be sorry," Jimin said softly, though his voice was shaking. "Our relationship... it’s a mistake. Everyone’s against it. Dad hates me... I just hope that after this, I can finally get back to my family. I miss Dad. I miss Mom. I want them to love me again."

Jungkook couldn’t stop the tears that fell from his eyes. He held Jimin’s hand against his cheek, both of them silently crying together. The bond they shared had been so deep, so powerful, but now it was being torn apart by the weight of the world.

Jimin was letting go—not because he wanted to, but because he loved Jungkook too much to let him suffer. Jimin had always been the one who shouldered the pain, and this time was no different.

"Goodbye, Kookie hyung," Jimin whispered, his voice barely audible, but the words echoed painfully in Jungkook’s heart

"Goodbye, Kookie hyung," Jimin whispered, his voice barely audible, but the words echoed painfully in Jungkook’s heart.

Jungkook wanted to scream, to beg Jimin to stay, to fight for them, but he couldn’t. The weight of everything—the lies, the guilt, the forbidden love—it was too much. All he could do was hold onto Jimin’s hand, as if he could somehow freeze this moment and keep his brother close forever. But he knew, deep down, that this was goodbye.
