Jimin had taken a week off from work, and he followed Jungkook back to the Jeon mansion to spend quality time together. Jungkook had already planned a variety of activities to make the most of their time, eager to rebuild the bond they'd lost over the years.
As Jimin knelt in the garden, his hands gently pressing soil around a new flower bed, he felt a sense of peace. He had always loved tending to plants, a passion he had shared with their mother. The bright afternoon sun filtered through the trees, casting a golden light on the vibrant blossoms he was planting. Just as he was lost in his thoughts, he felt a sudden splash of cold water hit his back.
"Hyung, no! My clothes!" Jimin whined, his voice a mix of frustration and amusement.
Jungkook couldn't stop laughing as he continued to spray water at Jimin, who now stood drenched, his clothes clinging to him. Jimin, with a mock angry face, stomped toward Jungkook, determined to take control of the hose. They playfully wrestled over the rubber water pipe in Jungkook’s hands, Jimin desperately reaching for it while Jungkook, much taller, held it high above his head, knowing full well that Jimin wouldn’t be able to grab it.
“You're still the same,” Jungkook teased, grinning as he watched Jimin’s frustrated expression.
“What?” Jimin pouted, arms crossed.
“You always push out your pouty lips when you're mad and frustrated,” Jungkook chuckled. “It’s just like when we were kids.”
Jimin’s lips formed an even more dramatic pout, making Jungkook laugh harder. He looked adorable, sulking just like he used to when they were younger. Jimin had always tried to keep up with Jungkook, wanting to do everything his older brother did.
Then, Jungkook, with a smirk, handed Jimin the hose. Jimin’s eyes lit up instantly, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he grabbed it. Cute giggles escaped him as he aimed the water straight at Jungkook, who stood still, pretending to be shocked as the cold water hit him.
“Hyung! Look at you!” Jimin laughed as Jungkook, in typical fashion, responded by doing a playful moonwalk dance, sliding across the grass as the water hit him.
Jimin laughed so hard, clutching his stomach as Jungkook continued his goofy dance, even as his clothes got soaked. “Hyung, that’s hilarious!”
After their playful water fight, the two brothers headed back inside, dripping wet but full of laughter and warmth. Once inside the kitchen, it was time to shift gears from their childish antics to something more practical: cooking. Jungkook perched himself on a stool at the kitchen counter, watching as Jimin prepared to cook dinner.
“Can you even cook?” Jungkook teased, leaning forward with a playful grin as he watched Jimin expertly slice the meat.
"Of course, I can!" Jimin replied confidently.
"Really?" Jungkook raised an eyebrow, smirking.
"I'm a grown man. I can do everything," Jimin said, standing a bit taller, trying to appear serious.
"Everything?" Jungkook leaned in closer, his smirk widening.
Jimin’s eyes narrowed. "Gosh, hyung, you're just like Mingyu hyung. Pervert!"
Jungkook laughed, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. "Whoa, whoa, put the knife down! This face is a national treasure!"
Jimin burst out laughing, clearly enjoying the banter, though he playfully waved the knife in Jungkook’s direction. "Mingyu hyung is way more handsome."
Jungkook’s playful expression faltered for a split second. "Since when did you get so good at cooking?" he quickly changed the subject, pretending not to hear the comment about Mingyu. How could Jimin even suggest such a thing? Jungkook wasn't about to lose the "most handsome hyung" title to his friend.
Jimin grinned, catching Jungkook’s attempt to dodge the Mingyu topic but decided to let it slide for now. "Eomma forced me. I had to help her run the food stall."
"Your mother forced you?" Jungkook asked, genuinely surprised. The Jeon family had never forced Jimin to do anything. He always thought Jimin was spoiled with love, not work.
"Did I say forced?" Jimin’s awkward laugh filled the room.
"Yes, you did." Jungkook’s eyes narrowed as he studied his brother.
"I meant t-teach. She taught me, not forced," Jimin quickly corrected himself, his tone becoming defensive.
"I definitely heard forced..." Jungkook teased, leaning in, his curiosity piqued.
Jimin let out a flustered mumble, "Hyung, don’t distract me. I need to concentrate if you want to eat."
Seeing Jimin avoiding the topic and clearly close to sulking, Jungkook decided to drop it, at least for now. He watched Jimin, noticing the slight tension in his voice, but he didn’t push further. Instead, he leaned back, admiring how much Jimin had grown.
"Alright, alright, I won’t bother you. Just don’t burn the food, okay?" Jungkook joked, offering a gentle smile, hoping to keep things light.
Jimin shook his head, smiling too, but Jungkook could tell there was more to the story. Still, he let it slide for now. Today was about reconnecting, not reopening old wounds.
