"God, why are you so stubborn! I told you not to do anything!" Jungkook exclaimed, his voice filled with exasperation as he watched Jimin lay on the hospital bed.
"B-but…" Jimin stammered, guilt filling his eyes.
After two weeks of being home post-surgery, this was the first time Jimin had ended up back in the hospital. He was supposed to be on full rest, avoiding any strenuous activity, but his stubborn nature got the best of him. Instead of resting, he had been cleaning the house, doing all the chores, and now his wound was bleeding again.
Jungkook ran his hands through his hair in frustration. "I should send you to mom and dad’s house. Maybe they'll be able to keep you in bed."
"No!" Jimin protested immediately, shaking his head furiously. He knew exactly how his mom would treat him—like a child. He'd be stuck in bed, not allowed to lift a finger, and that was the last thing he wanted. Besides, the most important reason for staying was Jungkook. He didn't want to wake up each morning without Jungkook by his side.
"Yes!" Jungkook retorted, his patience wearing thin.
Reluctantly, Jungkook drove them both to the Jeon family house. Jimin sat beside him in the car, sulking the entire way, his arms crossed over his chest. It was hard for Jungkook to juggle taking care of Jimin and managing his work, but he had no choice. He tried to spend as much time as possible with Jimin, but his work commitments made it difficult, especially now that Jimin insisted on overexerting himself. Jungkook sighed. His Mochi was the most stubborn person he had ever known. When they arrived at the Jeon house, Jimin quickly stepped out of the car and, without a word, headed inside. He didn’t even greet his parents; instead, he marched straight to his room, still sulking.
"What happened?" Mr. Jeon asked as Jungkook entered the living room.
Jungkook sighed, dropping onto the couch. "We just came from the hospital."
"The hospital? What happened?" Jungkook’s mom asked, sitting up straight, concern etched on her face. She had seen the way Jimin walked in, clutching his stomach.
"Mom, you know how stubborn Jimin is," Jungkook explained, running a hand over his face. "He insisted on doing housework, and now his wound started bleeding again."
Without another word, Mrs. Jeon bolted upstairs toward Jimin’s room.
As she entered, she found her son lying on the bed, still sulking, his brows furrowed, and his lips pouting. "What am I going to do with you, Mochi?" Mrs. Jeon sighed as she sat beside him, gently stroking his hair. "You’re going to drive me and Kookie crazy."
Jimin's pout deepened, and he shifted uncomfortably, avoiding his mother's gaze. "Mom…"
Mrs. Jeon chuckled softly, leaning in to pinch his nose playfully. "Why is my Mochi so cute when he's sulking? Don't you like staying here?"
"No," Jimin grumbled, turning his face away.
Mrs. Jeon laughed lightly. "Oh, Mochi. I know you love staying with us." She coaxed him closer, and Jimin snuggled up to her, resting his head on her stomach as he carefully moved his bandaged belly.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly, worry lacing her voice.
"I'm okay, Mom. Don’t worry," Jimin mumbled, his voice muffled against her.
"Of course, I'm worried. I'm your mom, and I know Kookie is even more worried."
"I know..." Jimin sighed, closing his eyes. "Mom?"
"Yes, my love?" Mrs. Jeon gently caressed his hair, waiting for him to continue.
"Thank you," Jimin whispered. "Thank you for everything."
Mrs. Jeon frowned slightly, confused. "Thank me? For what?"
"For paying for my treatment," Jimin said softly. "I know it cost a lot. I know you and Dad used your savings for me."
Tears welled up in Mrs. Jeon’s eyes, and she pulled him closer. "I would do anything for you, Mochi. Anything. Your father and I regret ever leaving you behind. We shouldn’t have gone so far away. We should have been here, looking after you... But we—" Her voice broke, and she began to cry, the years of guilt and regret crashing down on her.
"Mom…" Jimin lifted his head, wiping her tears with his thumb. He could see the pain in her eyes, the burden she had carried for so long. "You don’t have to feel guilty anymore. I love you."
His crescent eyes smiled at her, and Mrs. Jeon’s heart swelled. She hugged him tightly, knowing that she had her son back in her life, and that’s all that mattered now.
Before they could say more, Jungkook burst into the room, excitement lighting up his face. "Mochi! Look outside!"
Jimin sat up quickly, his eyes wide as he followed Jungkook’s gaze to the window. His mouth fell open as he saw the familiar white flakes falling from the sky.
"Snow?" Jimin’s voice was filled with awe. "Kookie hyung, it’s snowing!"
Jungkook laughed, nodding. "Your favorite, right?"
Jimin’s face lit up like a child’s. He loved snow—it was peaceful, beautiful, and always felt like a fresh start. For the first time since his surgery, a genuine smile broke out on his face. "Come on! Let’s go outside and see it!"
"Whoa, whoa, no way!" Jungkook chuckled, grabbing Jimin before he could leap out of bed. "You’re not going anywhere in this condition, Mochi. You can enjoy the snow from the window."
"But Kookie hyung…"
"No buts." Jungkook shook his head, laughing as he sat beside him. "You're staying right here, where it's warm and safe."
Jimin sighed dramatically but leaned into Jungkook’s embrace, content to watch the snow fall from the comfort of his room.
