Morgana was roused from her sleep, a lump at the end of the bed had moved. Aithusa was stretching again, huddling up to Morgana and the blankets for warmth.
The light was dim - late night or early morning, she couldn't quite tell. She went to stretch but it hurt to move. She winced slightly, head reeling trying to recall what happened. It came to her in flashes - Intruder,Arthur, crashing to the ground, nothing ...Elaine.
She frowned - where was Elaine? She lay still for a moment, but nothing moved. Just the eerie glow of the moon from the window breaking the darkness, no candles, no fire, no heat. Her traitor was hiding somewhere, Morgana was certain of it and she was going to find her. She couldn't hide forever. Morgana could feel the thrill of the chase beginning to boil inside her, she was going to make Elaine pay - for playing her like that, abusing her hospitality and letting her one perfect chance of killing Arthur slip away. She sniggered, imagining Elaine's smug face.
She began to pull herself off from the ground, removing her hand from some warm grasp, but stopped halfway through. This wasn't the ground - she was in bed - somewhat smothered in blankets. She didn't remember doing this - how could she? She shuddered. Was it Arthur? "No" she scalded herself silently, Arthur wouldn't dream of going near her. Not with all the power coursing through her veins would he...?
Power. The word hit her like a stunning spell - Elaine had kept that on the low down. Morgana had never really seen her use magic - she knew she had it though they just never really spoke of it, Elaine would always shy away from it. She would only use it sparingly. Her power was enough to rival Morgana's. A devious glint appeared in Morgana's weary eyes - Elaine had the makings of a great ally... Too bad she made herself a traitor. She was probably devising plans with Arthur - it all made sense to her now, it was all part of some master plan. They are amassing an army to come and attack her hovel - it'd make sense as to why Elaine didn't go with her - there was a rustle in the room, and it wasn't Aithusa.
Morgana's head turned quickly - pain flashing across her face briefly. The room was still - it was only herself and Aithusa on the bed, the rest of the room was empty. Morgana felt the cover of the bed begin to slide to the side, she looked down watching them begin to trail away - Elaine.
