Ash xxxMaddie slowly stirred as the sound of her name in a low husky voice being repeated over and over interrupted her sleep and entered her conscience. She slowly fluttered her eye lids open to be greeted by none other than Lucas's handsome face, the morning sun highlighting his melanin and making his tanned skin glow. "Morning" he smiled gently as he noticed her sleepy eyes looking up at him.
Maddie could only murmur in reply as she shuffled around in her bed, memories of the previous night suddenly hitting her like a brick wall. She reluctantly sat up in bed the sheets falling into her lap, she stretched up in a yawn. Maddie took a closer look at Lucas and noticed that he was in the same clothes he'd been wearing the previous night but his hair was now damp, Maddie could only assume that he'd slept on the couch and had taken a shower this morning while she was still asleep.
"You stayed over?" Maddie asked, voicing her thoughts.
"Yeah" he nodded "I wanted to make sure you were ok"
"Even when I was sleeping?" Maddie teased to hide her genuine thankfulness.
"Especially when you're sleeping" he grinned back "come on, I need coffee and you probably do too" he muttered standing up from where he was sat on her bed, as soon as he did so the bed sprung up and suddenly became uncomfortable. Maddie sluggishly got out of bed too and followed Lucas to the kitchen.
"Morning" she mumbled to Mark and Johnny who were at their usual places.
They both turned to face her each offering her a soft smile, making the worst decision of her life meant that she was getting a lot of sympathy. "Hey Mads, coffee?" Johnny offered to which Maddie nodded.
She wondered over to the counter and took a seat, looking at the dining table where just hours ago there were deadly weapons in the hands of deadly people who had since gone back to their home. She felt a pinch of bitter sweet nostalgia, of her ignorance, life was easier when she could pretend it had no complications. As Maddie's eyes darted around the room, images form the previous night being filled in by her vibrant memory, she caught sight of the clock.
"Holy shit" she cursed "I'm going to be so late for school" she muttered with a groan.
"Maddie it's nearly eleven, you're not going to school" Mark laughed from the counter.
"So now I've joined the gang I don't have to go to school?" She fumbled in disbelief.
"Oh hell no, don't get me wrong Missy, you're still attending school, and you're still getting fucking amazing grades" Johnny corrected waiting no time to swoop in "that is now an absolute necessity"
Maddie sighed in what she couldn't quite believe was relief, she assumed she must be in shock because the reaction was not one she would recognise as her own. "So what now?" She asked cautiously.
"Well for starters I told my dad you were sick so he's got you covered" Johnny explained "and then we have to go to the SM building"
"SM building?" Maddie stuttered.
Johnny sighed and rolled his neck "I need you to pay attention to this and really try to understand what I'm saying ok?" Johnny began, Maddie nodded immediately "SM is the crime family we, NCT, belong to, every gang in Korea is under one of these 'families' or 'companies', ours is SM, within these 'companies' we are allies, we are against gangs from other companies" he began "am I making sense so far?"
