Sorry for the break in updating, we're currently in holiday and the WiFi had been dodgy to say the least. We hope you're all having lovely summers!
- Soph and Ash xxIzzy sighed as she untied her apron at the end of her shift at the high end restaurant she worked at in a nicer district of Seoul. She had got the job through one of her professors at university whose brother owned the place. When she had asked if she could help out in the department for some money he had set her up with a much better payed job.
The tips were generous and the hours flexible which was exactly what she needed. Plus the staff were super friendly which was a big positive. She hadn't told anyone that she'd got an extra part time job but her dad's threat to cut her off when she had told him she was leaving to study in Seoul still circled in her mind. This way she made just enough money to make the rent each month with her money from tutoring helping pay other living expenses.
As she started to gather up her things ready to leave her boss walked up to her. Mr Lee was a fat, middle aged man whose temper was famous throughout the restaurant. However give him a couple of bottles of brandy and he'd cheer up very quickly. Izzy could never understand how he could be related to her kind and intelligent professor.
"Ahh, Miss Song, glad I caught you."
"Can I help you Mr Lee?" Izzy asked trying not to let her frustration show. She was planning on meeting Cassidy for a girls night and now she knew she would be late.
"Yes you can" he replied, "come into my office please Miss Song."
Izzy gulped and nodded, suddenly filled with a slight panic. Was she about to get fired? Surely she hadn't been that bad a worker? She always turned up to her shifts on time and never had any complaints. Sure she had dropped a couple of plates but she was extraordinarily clumsy. That wasn't a fireable offence though... was it?
"Take a seat Miss Song" Mr Lee instructed as they entered his office. Izzy gingerly complied, as she fiddled with her bag strap.
"You're not in trouble Miss Song, I simply have a favour to ask."
Izzy tried to stop the relief flowing through her body from showing as Mr Lee continued.
"You see, our company is catering a very fancy event next week and we happen to be a bit short staffed. I know you don't usually do events but you would be paid double."
"What day is it on?"
"Saturday"
Izzy virtually racked her brain trying to think whether she had anything going on that night. After doing some quick thinking she came to her answer.
"I think I'm available that day. What kind of event is it?"
"Black tie, very formal although we'll just be serving hors d'oeuvre and drinks."
"That sounds manageable. I'll be happy to help."
"That's wonderful to hear. You know someone made a special request for you Miss Song."
"For me!? Really?" Izzy asked, shock lining her face.
"Yes a very satisfied customer from last week. I believe his name was Kang Soojin or something like that?"
