Alice couldn't shake off her excitement as she queued in customs. For the first time in months she was in the same country as her best friend. The long queue didn't seem so bad when she knew that Maddie was in the other side of the big glass wall separating her from Seoul.
It took a good half hour to get through the queue and to collect her bag. She been in contact with Izzy and who had said she was waiting fo her right outside the arrivals entrance. All Alice had to do was turn the corner, and spot her amongst the crowds. She was slightly worried as the last time she had properly seen Izzy was a couple of years ago and she was worried that they wouldn't recognise each other. However, on her third look around the hall she recognised the Izzy she knew as a child from spending way too much time getting in the older girls way with Maddie.
Alice was taken aback at how she did in fact look more different. The persistent eye bags that had been there while she studied for her a-levels and degree were gone and there was no sign of the acne she'd had as a teen. Her once long and stringy blonde hair which she had persistently worn in a messy bun was now cropped just below her shoulders, and Alice couldn't help but admire her new look.
However the most shocking advancement was the tall man who was hugging her from behind whispering something into her ear which made her giggle. He was dressed in all black, and his large muscles seemed intimidating, but Alice couldn't help but notice his bunny smile as he laughed alongside Izzy. A slight pang of pain erupted in Alice's chest as she thought back to Jay and their amazing night together but she quickly brushed it off.
Alice was still watching them when Izzys eyes met hers, Izzy immediately brushed off her boyfriend and rushed over to her engulfing her in a tight hug. "Hi Alice, oh my goodness you look so tanned! It's honestly been too long" she greeted.
"Agreed, But I'm here now" she shrugged dropping the handle of her huge bag and hugging Izzy back.
She turned to her boyfriend and spoke to him in Korean before turning back to Alice "Alice this is Jungkook, he's my boyfriend" she explained.
"Hello it's nice to meet you" he smiled in heavily accented English.
"You too, thank you for coming to pick me up!" She smiled.
"No problem, it gives me an excuse to drive my car" he said slowly checking with Izzy what he'd said made sense.
"You mean your death machine" Izzy replied with an eye roll but it was obvious to see the love that lay behind the words. "Sorry, I'm a bit hungover from last night but don't worry despite how intimidating his car might seem, Kook's a very good driver."
Alice let out a nervous smile, before Jungkook picked up her heavy bag not even seeming to notice the added weight. Alice didn't even try to complain she was glad to not carry it, she'd lugged it across several continents and was ready to not live out of it for a while, so she just thanked him as they headed to the huge glass door.
"We've got a bit of a drive to get back to Seoul" Izzy explained, as they headed towards the car park. "The international airport is actually way outside of the city in Incheon. I thought we could go to my place first, allow you to freshen up before I take you to meet Maddie."
"Sounds good" Alice replied, grateful for a proper shower and not one from a questionable Youth Hostel. Izzy and her continued to talk about her flight until she turned on her otherwise silent boyfriend.
